Special Theme Park Hours for April 22, 2007
Due to a private event on Saturday, April 22, 2007, Disneyland Park will be opening at 6:30 a.m. and closing at 4:00 p.m. Disney's California Adventure Park will extend its hours that day and will be open from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.
And they are not correct Saturday is April 21st, hmm...
This seems a little early for the Pirates Premeire?
Does anyone know what the event is?

That is when we are going to be there, I wonder if we will be really able to get in at 6:30. DD is a very early riser. :-)
I've emailed them asking which date it is.
Isn't April 22nd Earth Day...? I have no idea whether they would have something special for that tho. I doubt anything special enough to close the park.

According to earthday.org, April 22nd (Sunday) is earthday. So why does the Dland calendar say Saturday? Hmm someone needs to get the facts and dates correct.

We were there on Earth Day in 2005. They didn't really do anything special, just handed out buttons at the security check point. The hours weren't any different and the crowds were the same as the couple days before.
Over at M.I. it was mentioned that the reason Disneyland is closing early that day is because of a private party for the Travel industry of America.
The event is a private one with invited guests attending the “Pow Wow” trade show. And it seems that this event will not open to the public.
Looking at the TIA website and their outline for the events of the Pow Wow, it shows an event on Sunday, 4/22 at DCA. Saturday, 4/21 simply says "explore Anaheim" in the evening. Doesn't mean they didn't add it, but it's not on their current schedule.
Two things.
I just checked the Disneyland Calendar and they've changed the day to Sunday now.
And, I wonder if this means the next MouseAdventure will definitely be moved to the following weekend now.

oh, yeah, sorry about that. I won the Year of a Million Dreams, and get to run around the park and on all the rides all by myself.
Well I called up Disney and they said it is for a Travel Agency Convention going on that day. Or something to do with Travel Agency getting the park in the late afternoon. If anyone else wants to call and ask... 714-956-6425.
From what the girl said, they still don't know where they are having the Pirate 3 Premier and that nothing has come out about it.

I have found the official event for the April 22. Low and behold this is a travel industry event. The Travel Industry Association is having their International Pow Wow 2007 from Apr 21 to Apr 25 in Anahiem. Per their website:

Disney Parks presents a dream celebration: International Pow Wow's opening event at Disneyland park. Walt Disney's original magical kingdom welcomes delegates to a high-energy night of food and fun, all capped with an entertainment experience only Disney can create. Join hitch-hiking ghosts, swashbuckling pirates and a famous character named Mickey for an evening adventure at the Happiest Place on Earth!
To clarify, this is a TRAVEL INDUSTRY EVENT, not a travel agent event. This is a group made up of City CVB's, large tour operators and large travel organizations. This is not your local travel agency. Membership into this TIA runs from $8600 to $50,000 per year. Hence they have the money and clout to close the park. Disney is also a member of this organization. As are most amusement park operators.
On Sunday, April 22, Disneyland park opens at 6:30 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m. for a private party. DCA will stay open till 11 p.m.
This is a great opportunity for early birds who hate traffic, because the roads in S. Cal. are pretty empty on Sunday mornings.

As long as I'm here on this thread, I think it would be pretty cool to go on the HM or Space Mtn. at 6:30 a.m. after a traffic-free drive down to Anaheim!
Mouseplanet did a whole story on April 22 being the travel agency thing. I'm pretty shure the premire is May 19, or something like that.
4/22/07 why is DL closing at 4 pm?
Hi, can someone shed some light as to why DL is closing early on 4/22/07? According to the disneyland calendar on their website its due to a private special event. I just had a disagreement with my friend who insists that its the POTC 3 premiere, but I'm pretty sure thats not until next month. If someone knows pls share the info...thanks!
