Don't wait too long to sign up for the Goofy Challenge 2008
The 2008 WDW marathon goofy challenge (1/2 marathon on Sat. and full marathon on Sun.) has reached 50% capacity. If you are a runner of walker, you better hurry and sign up. If you are doing only on race or the other, I am sure there is more time, but I have no doubt that these too will fill up quickly with the teaser of there being a special medal for the 15th anniversary of the marathon at WDW.
...and, yes, I am signed up!

It is now over 60%. From 50 on Friday to 60% on Monday, my prediction is it will fill by the end of the month as everyone is panicing.

WOW, glad I already signed up. I would have been heart broken if I would have missed out.
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.

I know of several people who missed out last year but still did both races. Doing the Goofy with the medal!

That's just nuts!
I'm really tempted to do the full marathon again in 2008. I actually had a pretty enjoyable time this year. I will probably do it again with TNT though, so they would handle registration.

How did you like all the TNT supporters along the way? I loved it when I did it with TTES and there were hundreds of people supporting you along the way. TTES stayed in they YC and BC so there was a ton of support from MGM to Epcot.

I really want to do the full marathon in 2008 but the dates don't mesh with my school dates. I am going to try to do the half again, at least, though... I guess I should persuade my family to take a trip out there again next year so that I can sign up!

When's my next race??

I just mailed my registration in for the Goofy! I wanted to save the $$ from the online registration, hopefully they receive it in time before it fills up.

I mailed mine in too. I dont remember it being $15 extra to register online last year. Thats a little too much.

They usually go by the date stamped on the front of the envelope not when they receive the post, so you should be fine for getting registered. They probably limit the number to 3000 hoping to keep it under 4000. WDW might do things differently, but that is usually how it works at the other major marathons.
FYI, I got my collectors goofy race championchip timing device in the mail yesterday (1/24) and I just registered online last Friday (1/19). That is very cool!

As of today, it is still only 65% so everyone mailing it should be fine.

Its up to 85% this morning.

I am offically registered for the 2008 Goofy. I emailed them to make sure they received my registration by snail mail. Maybe we can all meet up in WDW for the carbo loading past dinner prior to the 1/2 or full marathon.

It was 85% as of Monday, and I predicted imminent closure with just 400 or so spots left. On our Monday WDW park update, we wrote:
Registration for "The Goofy" filling up fast
As of yesterday, the 2008 Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend's Goofy's Race-and-a-Half Challenge (participating in both the half- and full-marathon events) is now 85 percent full. Registration has been open less than a month; the filling of the remaining couple hundred spots is imminent, so if you're interested in signing up, we urge you to register right now.
Now comes official word:
Registration Update: Goofy's Race and a Half Challenge has reached its registration capacity and is now closed.
Thank you for helping me raise funds for Team ASPCA for the 2013 Santa Barbara Half Marathon on May 11.

Since it is a solo trip for me, I would really like to have some kind of dinner with some of the other participants from mouseplanet. That would really help get rid of some of the nervouse energy. Name the place and the time and I will be there.
