Okay ladies... what did you think?? I LOVED the raquetball scene. The the "black eye meal." BUT I am so upset about Luke and Lorelai. I mean I saw it coming but still. It was perfect that he just got into his car and drove off. I really don't like the idea of her and Christopher. Any bets on how long Logan stays faithful?? I give it three episodes!!

I've never liked Logan. Blech. So just when they started to make him at all likable they switch him back.
Paris cracks me up. "It pays $15 an hour." HA HA.
Sookie cracks me up. "I think it's all that whisking."
I was intrigued that Luke came back to fight for Lorelai but I am not wild about them together. They totally sabotage themselves. I'm not sure what I think about Christopher, but I'm a relative newcomer to GG - I think this is only my third season watching it.

Oh yeah- I forgot that part, it was great!! Paris is so crazy! I think Luke and Lorelai have the Ross/Rachel thing going on. Everyone wants them together but the tension and suspense of them not ending up together keeps people hooked. I was watching the DVD of the first season and they are already hinting at a romance for the two of them. Only six more days until a new episode!

Okay help me out here:
If I remember correctly, at the end of the season finale Lorelai was in Christopher's bed. Then we hear Gigi's voice ask something about why can't she sleep without her clothes out like Auntie Lorelai?
So then this season starts with the two of them in bed together and Lorelai taking off. Are we to assume that he's since come back to bed & this is after she leaves for school? It was just weird at first I guess.
I think the Rory/Logan thing isn't going to work out too well. The whole "I'll see you for Christmas" makes me a bit suspicious. Although it might just be that in cheesy CW-land they are going to make it easier on both of them by not seeing each other, just like Rory couldn't come out of the apartment last season to say good bye.
Well I'm looking forward to this season. Hopefully it'll go well with all of the changes that have happened.

I'm reserving judgement...
I thought it was a little flat, but I wasn't watching under ideal circumstances, so I'm hoping that's why I wasn't as caught up in it. I don't think the new writers have the banter down, but I'm looking forward to a Stars Hollow-centered "summer" if they give us a few episodes of that before sending Rory back to Yale. I really really hope it doesn't end up just being a soap.
Regardless, I've held on this long, I'm not going to ditch it now. I just hope it's ok.

My daughter started watching GG when it first premiered. I thought it was a cute show and sometimes watched it with her. Then my wife also started watching. By this time, Laurelie and Rorey started jumping into bed with assorted guys and the show went way downhill.
My wife watched GG last night and now I can't even stand to be in the room when that show is on. What happened? I heard Amy Paladino doesn't even write for GG any more. That would explain a lot.
My favorite characters have always been Kirk and Paris. Wouldn't it be cool if they got together? I'd tune in for that.
-
I admit, I don't get what everyone loves about Paris (and Kirk). They are irritating in a quirky way and are meant to be low-dose characters. Much more of them than is already in the show would be too much.
Yes, the husband and wife writing team is no longer on the show, and some reviews of this latest episode have been scathing. But I think it was just fine! I look forward to seeing how things pan out. I am disappointed in the childish behavior of Lorelai--it's just never been her style to hop into bed and act the lonely floozy. She is savvier than that...or was. Kinda upsetting...

I see your point. It's not like Kirk and Paris deserve their own show. I just find them much more interesting than the main characters these days.

I agree wholeheartedy!

i loooooooove Paris, whenever she is on I just die.
-
I agree I miss the banter. The vocabulary of the characters just wasn't the same. But then again the classic "SAT vocabulary words" were very big on a few WB shows when the WB started so maybe it's kind of moving away from that. I'm sad to see it go though.
I liked the show, but it didn't seem to flow as well. I mean really, at the end, I didn't think "oh wow gotta tune in next week to see what happens with all of that."

I'm going to reserve judgement on the writing. I think this episode, was used to 'get the two of them single' and that just can't be pretty, regardless of the skill of the writers.
Speaking of 'bit' players (Paris, Kirk, and I'll add Taylor) - were Emily and Richard in the show at all? I know Richard was on a more limited number of episodes last season, but he was usually referred to.
-
Been There...Done That
Ditto to a bunch above...
I, too, thought the show was a little flat - writing just didn't have the pizazz of Team Palladino. I totally don't think Lorelai would jump into bed with Christopher in this instance. Then again, the whole never-discovered-daughter thing and consequences thereof never worked for me.
Really missed the snappy patter and, while the raquetball thing was close, still no cigar in my book.
Now that you mention it, Drince, I do not recall Emily and Richard at all. Seems like every single other player was present and accounted for, though.
Sigh...it was my favorite show...before. I'll give it more chances, though, this year.

I never realized Emily and Richard weren't in this episode. I hope it was just a temporary thing! I still liked the last episode. It's a transition time so a lot had to happen. I hope the banter picks up though!!

In one of the last episodes of last season, it was established that Emily and Richard were leaving for Europe (remember the whole setting up Christopher with some girl?), so their absence has already been explained.
It will be interesting to see how Emily handles the breakup of Luke and Lorelei - she never liked Luke, but I don't think that would stop her from berating Lorelei for not being able to "keep a man."
-
Yeah don't Emily & Richard usually go to Europe in the summer? I know Rory went with Emily one year recently... I'm pretty sure at one point Emily was mentioned. Can't remember why though... darn.
Anyway, they were both in the opening credits so I'm sure they're still part of the show. I would assume they wouldn't be there if they had been written off, like on 7th Heaven, Ruthie & Simon just aren't even part of the opening of the show.
-
Why is anyone worrying in the least about Emily and Richard? It's not like they're in every single episode, any more than any other secondary character. I am sure they are still on the show, and nothing to worry about.

Not worrying, but when 'bit' players were mentioned, I realized I hadn't seen them in the episode.

And, in my mind, every other secondary character was in the season premiere except Emily and Richard. Just made me wonder.

Oh man Clotho why not?! They are always the source of many laughs. Well on my part. It seems the Gilmore Girls themselves are usually quite irritated with them when I'm laughing.
I mean imagine if randomly Emily & Richard had purchased a house not only near Lorelai, but next door, and saw her come home late, fight in the front yard with Luke, etc. Ahh what fun that would be

I love love love this show... and hy even bad Gilmore is betterthan no Gilmore...
Look I think the loss of the creator ( Amy Sherman Palladino) is huge. For me... The writing was flat. It just didn't sing.
I am sad to say I believe this will be the last season. Look this is all rumors... But if it had stayed the WB, GILMORE was getting cancelled. But in launching a new network... You need a staple.
Look at it this way... There are always the good seaons (1-6) on DVD.

I do agree the writing was flat, but still ok. Better then the show being gone I guess. Not as many cultural references as usual. And Rory was just too excited about that car crash, and less concerned with how Luke was (or feeling). Also Rory seemed too wrapped up in Logan and less independent as usual. She was almost a different person. The whole "bumper story" Loralei gave was sad, but a little deep for her usual charcter, I thought.
Has anyone heard, or read, if the show will continue past this year? Last Spring I read this is the last year of the cast member's contracts. I did also read that even though Amy & Dan aren't writing anymore they do have control over the last episode of the series. So when it ends it will end like it should
