Heroes
Liked it, despite a HEAVY dose of Lost-itis (the mystical Indian scholar; the Asian subtitles; the cross-pollinization [comic book etc.]). The Asian time-traveller is hilarious, w/the Star Trek references -- a nice light touch in a very somber hour (drug addiction, suicide, fire, porn etc.).
Also - What's the super power of the porn girl? To see her evil twin in a mirror? To murder people when she's in trouble, only to awaken and have no knowledge of it?

Yes, I love the Japanese Star Trek references. It was a very interesting set up, and I will likely tune in for future episodes.
For those who missed it, it's replaying at 8 PM tonight. You can TiVo it while you watch House.

I agree BertDSweep, the Lost similarities were pretty evident. I enjoyed it and will give it another look next week.
The porn girl's power was a bit puzzling to me as well. It was pretty cool, but still puzzling.

Maybe she's really evil, teaming up w/the Cheerleader's bespectacled dad to take down the Supers??
In other words...............

I could have done without Super Hiro (the phrase, not the character). Hiro Protragonist already set the bar and others should respect it. The N'Sync karaoke'ers was kind of funny if not for the conflation of Chinese and Japanese in a kind of "they all look alike to me" thing (I couldn't quite tell if they were wearing Yao Ming jerseys or just similar colored jerseys).
But it looks like an interesting show and I'll watch a few more episodes to decide if it remains worthy. Then I'll stop watching and just wait for DVDs so I don't have get all worried about missing an episode and then being lost.

I liked the show generally, but it was pretty much X-Men: The Beginning. They even referenced X-Men in the show. Not sure why they're not getting their pants sued off.

I was also thinking that the stripper woman might end up as a villain, although the people she killed appear to be "bad guys."

I didn't think of that....very interesting! I was thinking along the lines of super human strength. Maybe the guys she murdered were trying to hurt her. I like your theory better, it would make more sense with the seeing the evil twin in the mirror.

I have been waiting for this one, mainly for Greg Grunberg, who wasn't even in last night's show.
I liked it, but really wished they didn't have to do that whole LOST / everyone's connected to everyone deal. When the father walked in the cheerleader's house at the end, I knew it was coming but wishing it wasn't.
I will continue to watch and see how it goes. There's a lot of potential for storylines there. And chalk me up as another one who did NOT get what the single mom's (vs. "porn girl") power was???

The pilot was interesting, but I too was wondering how they are getting away with basically being X-Men 2.0. It's entertaining enough to keep me tuning in though.
I'm not familiar with Hiro Protagonist so I didn't get the reference. I just thought it was a typo in the subtitles (which seemed kind of odd, so it did catch my attention).
6 Degrees is another show that just started where all the unrelated characters all have some interactions with each other. I hope things don't get too out of hand with more and more shows using such a device. It could get really tiring.

Hiro is a relatively common Japanese name so I had already been mildly amused by the name choice with the title of the show before they went and made it explicit.
Hiro Protagonist is the, well, hero protagonist in Neal Stephenson's novel Snow Crash.

Last night's episode (Oct 10) was jaw-dropping. I am totally in love w/this show.

Blue Ball Go Down The Hole
funny. i don't watch lost, yet i feel like a lot of it's been done before too. the father/daughter thing actually reminded me of Nickelodeon's Alex Mack where the title character had developed powers from a source that was of some interest to the employer of her father, or something to that effect.
I didn't catch last night's episode, but as much as I liked the pilot, the second episode seemed a bit way off. It may have seemed clever how Hiro got himself out of that situation, but it's a bad precendent to set. Every week now you'll be waiting for Bobby to step out of the shower at the end.
and as for the 'porn girl,' i don't think schitzophrenia is a super power.

That's Niki -- see? With time comes familiarity. She's got a very interesting doppleganger. Who you don't want to make angry. You wouldn't like her when she's angry......

Yup - I was TOTALLY drawn in after last night's episode. They seem to be advancing the story well and the final scene with the cheerleader - amazing! I think I'm hooked...

Somebody better hook up that cheerleader with adumantium infused bones so she doesn't accidentally get decapitated and can't regenerate herself. Then she could also have the cool knife fingernails.

FYI, the show has been picked up for the full season.

Blue Ball Go Down The Hole
there was an article last week in variety, noting it's like the #1 program for 18-49 (don't recall the details) and evidently is not having a positive impact on studio 60 which is not faring too well.

I have a new favorite show.
I think the cute little dark haired neighbor girl is totally a bad guy.

I am enjoying this show.
I was looking at the actor's resumes on IMDB and was surprised to learn that the cheerleader was the voice of Dot in A Bug's Life.

Nice inside reference to have Hiro and friend at the Montecito in Las Vegas!
So I take it Niki's "employers" wanted her to sleep with Nathan so they'd have incriminating pictures/video of him so they can control his campaign?
-
That was my initial thought and certainly what they wanted us to think because they showed the camera and video. After cheerleader-dad showed up, I wondered if he hadn't paid the casino crime boss for that, but that he had other motives for getting the two in the same place. He did tell his lackey to just take the one though, so his arrival may have been unrelated.

Blue Ball Go Down The Hole
does any of it matter though since hiro can just undo everything anyway? :/
not missing the second episode. i wasn't thrilled by the fact that hiro makes a lackluster (but comical?) attempt to save new york city and some guy's life by leaving a crazed message in japanese when his friend just translates for him.
the stripper's power? she's a white she-hulk. got it.

If anyone's missed any episodes, they are playing re-runs on Sci Fi. I just caught this myself - I think it was Monday night at 7PM (EST). Although the Sci Fi Channel website is showing it playing at 7PM on Friday nights.
