Not So Scary - Worth it?

    Hey all -

I'm going to WDW with the family (kids age 9 and 12) from Oct 28 - Nov 5th.

How will crowds be? Big question, should we shell out the $$'s for the Not so Scary Party? There will be 10 of us total including three kids. Is it worth the $400 that it would cost? We'd go on Monday the 30th. Also, what's the best building/room in Alligator Bayou at POR that has a trundle bed - anyone know?

    Thanks!

Can I add something to that? Would it be enjoyable for teenage children. Ours are 14, 16,and 17. We are planning to go this year but dont want to waste our money if our kids will think its "dumb".

There are a lot of fairly recent threads about the Halloween Party. 'Worth it' is such a subjective question. I went 3 years ago, and I'm going again this year. But it's not something I'll probably do every time I'm in WDW in October, and in fact, I did not do it 2 years ago. Other people have gone once in a trip and enjoyed it so much, got tickets for a party a couple days later.

i'm one of those who say it can't possibly be missed. i mean, if you don't go, you won't know what you're missing, so you probably won't regret the decision. i don't think you'd regret going either.

We went last year with a party of 10. Our friends two sons ages 8 &10. Our two adopted daughters(another set of friends kids) ages 17 & 15 and our 2 daughters ages 13 and 11. All of us had a blast. The teenagers loved getting dress up and trick or treating. They loved the parade especially the headless horseman and the grave diggers and the skeleton band. They loved seeing Mk decorated for the event and Hallow wishes was awesome to watch. Both of our friends kids had never been to WDW before and can't wait to get back. The teenage girls are still having WDW withdrawls. It is worth the money.

Grateful for all God has done for me, and for having Wfoxx by my side.

If you have never done it before, it is worth trying. Like what Drince mentioned, "worth it" is kinda of a personal preference, but one that you will only be able to decide on once you try it for yourself. We really enjoied ourselves when we went, but will most likely not do it again until GusJr gets a little older.

My take on it is that if you do go, do try to partake in many of the special events that go on as a part of the party. Of course, most of the attractions will be open at that time and the lines are rather short, for the most part. Heck, during the last hour of the party, most are walk-ons. However, in reference to this week's WDW update, there may be some concern about crowds since it appears that the party start time and the park closing time are both at 7PM. That in of itself is not a big deal, but since MNSSHP is a ticketed, extra event, getting all non-party-goers out of there may be a challenge. It ought to be interesting to see how things turn out. By no means should that be a discouragement to go but just something to keep a lookout for.

In any case, my tip for this is to go during a school night... crowds tend to be lighter anyway.

In addition to these comments and comments to come, you might want to do a search on "MNSSHP" to see some of the recent past conversations. You might get additional insight from those past posts.

    Hope that helps!

My wife and I went last year and had lots of fun. Seeing the Headless Horseman gallop down Main St. made it totally worth it.

Thanks everyone! Worth it is like asking "what's the best ride at MK!"

We might just give it a try! Free candy and a unique parade - how bad can it be!?!?

We have made plans to visit the party on October 5th. It's early in the month and a weekday so it should be light.

How long do you think I can wait to buy our tickets? Are there areas that are not open? How late can you make dinner PS's for?

If you have a good idea that you will be going to the party, go ahead and get your tickets now, just to be sure.

I think I read it on the board within the past week that you can make ADR's for during the party, but Disney Dining may have to look it up for you outside of their normal reservation system. Just give them a call and ask to see if your restaraunt of choice has the time available during the party on your desired date.

    Hope that helps.

the only TS locations open during the party are LTT and Tony's. ADRs are very popular for them though. and you need to make sure the CM you speak to understands it's during the party (it's a different booking than the normal ADR).

If it makes you feel any better, tuna, I'm one of the ones who thinks the parties are not worth it. Call me a party pooper but I don't see spending that kind of money on a over-crowded parade and some tootsie rolls again.

unfortunately it's a whole lot more than a parade, fireworks and candy. even if you exclude the fact that many rides in MK are virtual (or really) walk-ons.

the whole park is transformed. there are other special shows. special meet & greets. characters in costumes. the whole atmosphere is just different.

So I'm feeling a little stupid....

I can't find the times of the fireworks and parade so I can try LTT for during our Halloween party on October 5th. Being a planning nut I never schedule a meal without knowing everything else I could be doing or want to miss!

BTW: LTT is my fav of all meals, character or otherwise. We have even eaten there twice in one day with an early lunch and a late dinner.
