Disney to raise prices for second time this year - Orlando Sentinel, 8/4/06

    http://www.orlandosentinel.com/busin...home-headlines

QuikQuote: Walt Disney World said today it is increasing its base ticket price to $67 Sunday, the second price increase this year.

Disney officials did not say what is prompting the $4 increase -- which also affects prices across the board in the company's "Magic Your Way" flexible ticket plans -- except to say the new price is in line with the needs of the travel industry.

Do Disney officials really need to explain the basics of supply and demand every time they adjust pricing?

Dont they realise its easier to get $1 form a million people, then it is to get $1 million from one person.

I know Disney is far from suffering, but dang if they had ticket price at $50/person, they would get more guest and make a killing.

Here is a more detailed article from Sundya's Orlando Sentinel...

    http://www.orlandosentinel.com/busin...dlines-tourism

Starting Sunday, the cost of a one-day ticket to any of Walt Disney World's four parks is going up to $67 -- a 6.3 percent increase, the largest since 1991.

The hike is the second time in eight months the resort has bumped the cost of admission and represents an increase of almost 12 percent since December and 22 percent since early 2004.

Disney officials did not say what is prompting the $4 increase -- which also affects the company's Magic Your Way flexible ticket plans -- except to say the new price is in line with the needs of the travel industry.
And don't forget, the actual new price of a one day, one park ticket is over $71 when you add tax (The tax was $4.10 on the old $63 price).

Ticket prices seem to be going up at about the same rate as college tuition.

Twice in one year. That's unnecessary. Then in January there will be another price increase? That's crazy! In 2 years a 1-day pass is going to be $80 at this rate.

Thanks for the update Mark. We have 3 trips planned with friends and they all bought their tickets last night saving themselves $$$.

I can't believe that a one day/one park ticket at the gate is $67. That just seems crazy to me.

Isn't that taxws going up Sept first? And what happens if you have already paid for your up coming trip? Do I have to pay more when I get there Sept 1?
