Phbbbt Golden Years section of Pop Century

I was just curious about the progress of the 'Golden Years' section of Pop Century. I was there in April 2005 and looked forward to the expansion of the resort. I know production was stopped but any word on when or if it will start up again?

What I have heard is that if the All-Stars Suites work out well they will make that entire half of Pop into All-Suites.

But I live less than 20 miles from Walt Disney World! And work there part-time.

I've read internet rumors that they're waiting to see if the family suites at the All-Star Music is a success, and that maybe, they would do the same at Pop. I've also heard that the buildings currently started would probably be torn down and rebuilt, but I only saw them briefly one night driving around the resort, so I have no real idea of their current condition.

Do you think they will build another Classic Hall type building over there too? Or at least another food court. I love POP but that food court in the morning can be a zoo. .

the suites is half of it. reportedly construction stopped long before the suites situation came up because it was structurally damaged during a hurricane. they have to destroy it and rebuild is what i've heard.

and then as mentioned, it may become an all suites resort following how the All Stars phase goes.

I asked about this when I was there and this is what I got:

Vintage Hall has been built (at least the building shell) and was originally designed to mirror Classic Hall (check-in, food court, and of course, a gift shop) but was delayed after tourism fell dramatically after 9/11. If you look across the time gap bridge from the Classic Years, I believe it's the first building to the left of the bridge. I do know it's shown on the maps around the resort.

As far as renovating the buidlings, I wouldn't be surprised to see them wait a fiscal year to review the impact of the All Star suites. Then construction contracts would have to be negotiated and I would guess no work would start sooner than September 2007. (Unless the All Star suites start selling out....)

Golden Years will have all the same amentities as the Classic Years. Basically 2 seperate hotels joined by a bridge.

I hope they finish it soon because it is so tacky to walk around the resort along the lake and see the skeleton to all the buildings.

The latest that I've heard from my sources is that they expect to build the Legendary Years half of Pop as all-suites, but that there is no set start date.

Mark, I concur. The Generation Gap Bridge will connect Phase I and Phase II of Pop Century.

It remains to be seen as to whether the Legendary Years section will be all family suites or just partially designed as family suites.

Last year we heard they would level the present buildings there and then within the last few months we heard those buildings will NOT be razed.

As to when the work will begin on the Legendary Years, I personally think a big factor will be the popularity of the family suites now at the All-Stars.

If they proove to be real popular you'll see the Legendary Years section all of a sudden move up on the priority list.

Maybe they could reconsider calling it "The Scopa Years"

It would be nice to see Suites at Pop Century also. I bet they will be very popular with families that have children on a tight budget.
