Sneakers vs crocs for the park?

Hi everyone! Only two more days before we get on the plane (tiny, squeaky, excited voice !

So, as a park veteran, I always wear worn-in sneakers when I visit the Mouse. But this summer, my new crocs are feeling good....can they stand up to a day in the park, or should I stick with the sneaks? anyone BTDT?

Thanks again for all of your great comments...we can hardly wait (the last time I was at Disneyland was 1972!)

I'd say go with what's worked

Ok, well this may be just me. When I started my OB/GYN rotation I went out and bought a pair both for wards and for the operating room. The crocs were extremely comfortable to walk around the hospital in. However, standing during hour long or two hour surgeries in them was NOT fun at all. So, if you're going and expecting a lot of waiting around, I would go with the sneakers. I wore mine around the parks two weeks ago and never had a problem at all.

So that's my two cents. If you're doing a lot of walking and not a lot of standing around, you MIGHT be able to get through with the crocs. But I'd bring the sneaks just in case.

    Have a great time!!!

I'd stick with the sneakers. I usually take a pair of sneakers, a pair of sandles, and my flip flops. Then I just switch them out here and there. To tell you the truth though my flip flops are the most comfortable to wear. My feet need to breath. They don't seem to hurt as much after a long day walking or standing with my flip flops.

Here's an added tip. On our last trip, half way through the trip, I went to the Mandara Spa at the GCH and had a swedish massage with the added on foot treatment. The foot treatment was to die for. It was one of the best things I did.

I'm planning on bringing my crocs and sneakers, wearing my crocs most of the time. I haven't worn them in Disneyland, but I have it on good authority (<ahem> Janine lol) that they're awesome. You should consult I Heart Disneyland!, the queen of Crocs!!

I try to take more than one pair of shoes so I can rotate them. We generally travel during the off season, which means that we spend a lot of time walking (as opposed to standing in lines). Several days walking around the park is enough to cause various problems. If I wear tennies, then my feet are okay, but I tend to get heat rash on my feet. Teva style sandals are very comfortable, but sometimes I get a blister or a sore spot - especially if I haven't worn them a lot. I also take moleskin (available at your local drugstore) and carry it in my pack just in case.

another thought: Crocs are great for GRR and Splash -- they dry out soon after they're soaked. Love it!! I wear them to wash the car and for water play at school. If you don't want to wear them after that, they're light weight enough to pack away after that!

Personally, I've work Crocs the last 2 trips and they were WONDERFUL. I would take both, on the other hand, just in case. Put one pair in a locker with your other stuff so that you have them if you need them.

    Have a great time!

Two of the most comfortable walking shoes I've ever worn all day at DL.

    I'm just saying.

I love my crocs at the park! Not only me, but all my kids, ages 4 to 9, love wearing their crocs. We have even stayed at walking distance hotels, adding to the foot travel! I was worried the first time I did it, but they ended up great. Every other shoe I have worn there has been bad eventually. Also, my mom is an AP holder, and all she wears is crocs too! Give it a try!

as a sneaker head, i would prefer sneakers. also, with my experience from grad night, VANS are very comfy and should last ur average day at the park.

I'm BACK!!! my trip was good. i miss it already

I spent most of the day in cheap generic sports sandals (with argyle socks, of course!), then changed into my Florsheims when I went out to my car to check KFWB to see if Discovery had made it safely into orbit (which it had).

For your kids, did you have to break them in a bit before you tried them at Disneyland? I'd like to try a pair for my 6 year old daughter.

For me it's Crocs all the way! Whenever I wear tennis shoes I get blisters. I just returned from 4 days at Disneyland and I wore my Crocs Athens flip flops the entire time. I did not get one blister, nor did I have any foot or leg pain! These things are a gift from heaven!!!

I vote for Crocs too! (As I am from Colorado and own 3 pair + my stocks in Crocs .) Besides my prejudiced opinion, Crocs are by far the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn. It is like your foot is being massaged with every step.

However, make sure to bring or buy a can of Lysol. It is very easy for "things to grow" when sweaty skin meets foam (or any shoe for that matter.) My doctor recommended that I spray all my shoes after I wear them to prevent "problems." Or if your hotel has a dishwasher you can throw your Crocs on the top rack each night.

Other disadvantage of Crocs is that your feet will be filthy!

If you go with tennis shoes. Try to go to a specialist to make sure you are buying the right size and width. I had the worst problems wearing tennis shoes until I had my feet measured by New Balance. Turns out I was wearing the wrong size!

I don't like either of them. I wear Clarks flip flops the whole time and never have a problem. When we went last october, it rained the whole time and I wore close toed Clarks with sock. Very comfortable

Funny...on our trip in May, my hubby was all bugged because I was wearing Crocs. He said, "Why don't you get a nice pair of tennies to wear instead? You will end up with blisters!" Guess who had blisters? HIM! In his fancy athletic shoes. Me? Not even one in my Crocs! Did you see my Crocs adventures???

Hey, I have a battle-worn pair of black Crocs too. Comfy!

For DLR, either Crocs or my Mephisto Sandals. Crocs tend to smell better (more info than most of you need, I'm sure ).

    Capezio 'Fierce' Sneaker & Crocs

You're awesome! I loved your adventures! Surely your husband must have had fun with this too -- and none of it would have been possible if you had just worn some boring old, blister-causing tennies.

When we were there in April I wore my Capezio Fierce dance sneakers. They were very comfortable. My feet are a mess as I have abused them for many years of dance. I think the dance sneakers worked so well because they were practically weightless considering the great support they provided me, plus they are really flexible.

Since the weather was hotter when we were there at the end of last month I decided to swing out and try some sandals. I alternated regularly between my flip flops and some Dansko-looking (not the real thing) open-toed clogs. It turned out pretty well, surprisingly.

When I go back (in 19 days, yay!!!) I am planning on wearing my Crocs. I have light pink and black Crocs and my husband makes fun of me every time I wear them. He will likely be pretty embarrassed.

You're on, Sis! We'll get you fitted for a pair of Crocs one way or another.

Seriously, though, my New Balance 608 sneakers are great also.
