Anyone know why Ball Rd. was closed Tues. night? (when exiting parking structure)

When exiting Mickey & Friends lot Tues. night, it was blocked off so that you could not merge to the right to get on Ball road; it FORCED you to get on the 5. Since I only know my usual way home, it was not fun. I know, as a So CA resident I should know my way around, and obviously I figured it out, but it wasn't fun, and I felt sorry for out-of-towners - our freeways in So CA are bad enough without the detours.

The Anaheim Police Department is making this decision due to traffic control issues.

The best option in this case, stay to the right, and get onto 5 south.

Take the first exit, Harbor Blvd. At the end of the off-ramp, make a left (north) on Harbor. The second light is Ball Road.

Is this going to be normal now? It stinks because I know a lot of people who take the 57 and they should post that or something.

My own little world is what I deserve, cause I am the only child there is.

I wouldn't be surprised, The Anaheim Police Dept. makes the decision based on the size of the crowds, and this will be a busy weekend, and I presume most of the summer. Besides, I think the Anaheim Police would like the guests to get off their streets ASAP, and this is an easy way to get them straight to the freeway. Also, what is happening at Downtown Disney (things like House of Blues concerts) also come into the decision.

Thanks for the detour directions, DB. I'll try to remember that.
I really hope this is not a long term thing, i.e. all summer. That's ridiculous if they just want to keep all the traffic off the Anaheim streets. DL does bring a tiny bit of business to the area!
And I agree about the suggestion that they should've posted something. Maybe some detour suggestions.

It was the same on Sunday night. It will probably be this way all summer. I recall they did the same last year during the peak crowd times.

    Another detour

Another detour would br to get 5 North and take first exit which is Lincoln and take it East to 57.

I would also recommend getting on the 5 south, get off at Katella, head east and get on the 57 that way. This I found was the quickest way to get onto the 57 when going home. It has the smallest amount of streets (traffic signals).

Re-enter so that your can re-leave

I put on my thinking cap.
    Here is a freaky idea.
    ***
Perhaps it is possible for a car to exit the MICKEY AND FRIENDS parking structure (at the bottom of the ramp) and TURN RIGHT so as to re-enter the entrance lanes.

That MIGHT allow you to pass the kiosks (again! with your paid parking receipt in your hand, of course) and thus be directed to exit by turning LEFT into the uncovered lot. (Is that "Pinocchio"?)

From the uncovered lot, you can exit onto MAGIC WAY, turn right, and reach KATELLA and turn LEFT toward the 57 freeway.
    ***
    This is THEORY, not PRACTICE.
Someone's got to experiment and see if the orange traffic cones are arranged to that the U-turn equivalent is possible.
    ***
If not, then I agree that, because the SANA ANA freeway runs diagonal, going SOUTH to KATELLA is better than going NORTH to LINCOLN, in terms of distance as the crow flies, even if your goal is to go NORTH on the 57.

You want to hit the 57 in as few minutes as possible.
Going N. on the 5 and using LINCOLN means a longer East-West jog.

    Trivia:

The 57 freeway has a name!
    It is "The Orange Freeway".

    Whuddya know!
    Who knew?

I hope no one actually uses the name of the freeway when asking directions.
It might be embarrassing to ask a complete stranger, "How do you get on the Orange?"

(If someone were to ask me that on the street, I would think him rude, and probably reply, "First, you sneak up on it from behind ...")

    Thank you, "Thomas Guide."
(What a strange last name, eh?)

And I thought Wink Martindale would have been picked on for having parents give him his weird name.

    Imagine! -- "Martindale"!
