    Wilderness Lodge Rooms

What's the best room at Wilderness Lodge? We have a woods view, but because of the time of year, we are thinking we may get upgraded, so any suggetions are much appreciated. Also, does anyone know what rooms/floors have been updated?

Room upgrades are few and far between anymore, and while they do happen it's not all that frequent.
that being said; if you are staying with the "woods view" then understand what that is. at most WDW hotels the rooms come in certain levels. a woods view, or garden view as it is called in other hotels is usually a view of the parking lot. at WDW there are few of these rooms, and most wood view rooms will at least have some kind of woods in sight. but many of the rooms, particularly on the west side have views of the employee parking lot, and back stage areas of the hotel. requesting a room on the east side of the hotel will elliminate that. but these rooms may now be an upgrade to a quiet pool view room, not sure what they have done in this catagory since the addition of the DVC's to that side of the property.

At Wilderness Lodge, the Woods view room is a step up from Standard, which face the front of the resort and the parking lot. The Woods view face the sides of the resort, and the many tall pines that surround the property. The Courtyard view face either Bay Lake, or the courtyard and quiet pool in between the Resort and the Villas.

A nice room location to ask for is on an upper floor, facing the MK. You can't really see it that well (too far) but it makes for some nice views when the fireworks go off. I haven't uploaded my shots from that view yet, but it's nice and serene. I've done both courtyard and woods, and it's very peaceful and pleasant in the woods view rooms (courtyard tends to be a bit noisy depending on where you are, due to the pool and rocks and that darned Electric Water Parade.) This is one resort where I prefer the Woods over the Courtyard, due to the noise factor.

Upgrades are few and far between, I'm afraid, although you might see more of them as they go through the resort upgrade. I don't know how far along they are on the room upgrades.

Don't loose hope- last January they upgraded my room from standard to courtyard! Anyway- I've also stayed in a woods view facing MK. It was nice and I could catch a glimpse of the castle. One concern- the top floor have solid balcony fences- so you can't see through if you are sitting down. That may be a nice thing if you have small children you are worried about. But for us, it blocked the view and my then 3 yr old couldn't see out (unless he climbed- Not Allowed!!!). So when you might want to what kind of balcony guards you have.

We had a nice room, in the main lobby 4th floor. We had a nice view of the courtyard and the pool was in view also. We could see the Electric Water Parade.

The room was so lovely, however...the noise factor from the Lobby (even 4 floors up) was horrible.

We could hear whoops and hollars from the Whispering Canyon Cafe'...PASSS THE KEETCHUUUUUUUUUUUUUP! It was cute at first, but not at 9pm!

And, then as we were checking out President's Day Weekend, the crowds were coming in swarms and it was sooooo loud!

I had a courtyard view during my last visit and loved it. We had a great view of the courtyard and pool and Bay Lake from our balcony. The noise was a complete non-issue. It was nice and quiet the whole time. Of course, we weren't near Whispering Canyon Cafe. We were on the opposite wing and a ways down the hall. I can imagine that if you're near the Cafe that it can be quite a bit noisier.
