    How was New years Eve?

After all the talk about rain etc I'm just wondering if it was very rainy after all and if the shows etc were canceled. Did everyone have a good time? Wish I could have been there! Happy New year!

    That worked!

Since it is only 8:20pm, I suspect most people that went to the park today are still there...

The shows went on as scheduled...I left before midnight b/c it was way too crazy there. I've been to DL on New Years Eve before but it was insane on Main Street! DCA was empty though so we went and danced there...much more fun!

New Years Eve was crowded but it was not gridlock, the rain kept folks away. The Fantasy in the Sky show at 12am was great, Disneyland did a great job with the 12am fireworks. All in all, it was a good night at Disneyland.

    Just got home!

We arrived at 8ish and went to DCA. It was pretty crowded, but tolerable. We had a great time, the DCA show was pretty good and we enjoyed the fireworks. We went to DL afterwatrds at about 1240 and it was packed!!! MUCH more crowded than last year at that time. Space had a 105 minute standby at 1am and Buzz was 30 min!

Soggy, but good. Was also the first time since DCA opened that I was there when the weather was right for trying GRR. (i.e., rainy so I'd be dressed for it, but not freezing) Say what you will about New England fishermen, but they sure did come up with a good hat for keeping your head dry.

Fireworks were really good. Both times. By 11:00, though, the prime rib at the Blue Bayou was more than a little past its prime.

Rode Monsters Inc. twice: the first time, the video screens in my cab weren't working, and I also had to walk out from the point where Boo is clobbering Randall. Second time, everything was fine.

It DEFINITELY smells like a sushi restaurant, but not fishy. It smelled like that pink stuff they put next to the green stuff (is it ginger? LOL -- can you tell I'm not a sushi eater?)

I'm guessing they do it the same way they make the orange grove smell like orange blossoms on Soarin'. It has a name, but I can't for the life of me remember what it is...boy, am I helpful this morning, or what? Rest assured, you didn't imagine it.

It's ginger. And I am SO glad to know that I'm not the only one who smelled it

We got there at 8 in the morning and, although things were busy, they weren't necessarily all that bad. We hit HMH, got a Fast Past for Indy, and headed over to Splash. Slpash was closed, so we went on Pooh. Right as we got off Pooh, Splash opened. That's right when the rain started to sprinkle.

Throughout the day, the rain got heavier and heavier, but (thankfully) it wasn't terribly cold- we had our ponchos, which kept us suprisingly warm (and, clearly, dry ).

The park really started to clear up as the rain continued, it was very nice. We got on just about every ride (minus the Fantasyland stuff) at least once and BTMRR, Splash, Indy, HMH, Matterhorn, and Pirates twice.

By 5 PM, we were drenched and miserable. We decided that we were going to go to the hotel and if we couldn't get back in, at least we'd be dry! The CM a the gate asked if we had a locker with stuff in it, we said yes, and she told us that they had to let us back in because of the locker even if they reach capacity.

We came back about 9 and the park was pretty much wall-to-wall. We got on Space (about an hour wait, give or take a bit), Indy, Pirates, and the Matterhorn before leaving at 1.

We watched the midnight fireworks from the RoA, but it wasn't the fireworks that made the night. Right as the countdown hit midnight, the guy next to us got down on his knee and asked his girlfriend to marry him. She just FREAKED out and started screaming "YES!". She jumped up in his arms and gave him the biggest, longest kiss that I've ever seen. Very, very, very sweet (brought a tear to my eye) and very, very, very adorable. Oh, and the rock was huge too!

All in all, it was a good day. A long day, but a good day!

Oh, we ate lunch about noonish in the Blue Bayou. The prime rib wasn't all that prime even that early in the day- definitely missing something, but I'm not quite sure what.

The waitress saw my birthday sticker and gave me free mousse though! So that made up for my "meh" prime rib.

I went yesterday, it was fun. We got to the park around noonish and went to Disneyland first. But when it started to rain it was bad. We were in line for Indy and that line sucks when it is raining. I was driping from head to toe. We had an umbrellia in the locker but we did not hae it with us because we stupidly did not think it would rain till a little later. But after we went back to the car and got into dry and warm clothes it was fun. Went over to DCA and then went back to Disneyland for the fireworks. The new years fireworks were cool, there was not enough of a draft to move the smoke out of the area. But is was still alot of fun. I thought the crowd size was not bad at all. I did everything i wanted. P yea when it rains the matterhorn goes alot faster.

3 questions: 1) Why do you like to ride GRR in the rain?, 2) Got a pic of those hats? 3) DCA was open past 1am?!

    1. Just like I said: if it's a rainy day, then I'm dressed for rides involving water. Otherwise, I'm not. Although I think I may invest in a pair of rain trousers before I ride GRR again, even though the old Expand-o-Matics did dry out fairly quickly.

    2. What hat? The party hats they issued last night (black vacu-formed plastic top-hats with gilded paper bands marked "happy new year") or my dark green Dutch Harbor Gear sou'wester? (Wikipedia article here.)

    3. Who said DCA was open past 1:00 A.M.? Not I. I started in DL, talked to the people at the Bayou, rode Pooh (saying hello to Max, Buff and Melvin), picked up a FastPass for Splash Mountain, had lunch at the French Market (juggling my knife, fork, and umbrella the whole time), looked at the reindeer at BTR (if I'm not mistaken, they're all hinds; if I remember my reindeer biology, harts would have dropped their racks a month ago), rode the Mark Twain, spent some time in the Disney Gallery, rode Splash mountain, went over to DCA, rode Monsters, Inc. the first time, found out they'd suspended single-rider on Soarin' because of the danger that people might slip and fall all the way down the ramp on the single-rider side, got a FP for that, rode GRR, did the Boudin tour (nothing happening in the bakery that late but cleanup), saw Golden Dreams, by which time my FP was ripe, so I did Soarin', did Monsters, Inc. again, by which time it was almost time for The Parade. After The Parade, I returned to DL, and found a nice place in front of the train station to watch the regular fireworks, then rode the train to NOS as soon as the tracks had been checked, got a late past-its-prime rib dinner, paid my check at 11:56, went out and saw the fireworks, saw Fantasmic, listened to Alan at the piano, and went home (stopping at Walgreen's for some Visine, as my eyes had inexplicably started burning). And when I walked out of DL, it was just past 1:00, and DCA was indeed closed for the night.
