I am so sick of these kind of people...

So i had sort of forgotten about this epidsode that happend on our last trip----december 11th---and i just now remembered it and im angry all over again.

so on our last day at Disneyland on our past trip we were standing in line at City Hall to put in a good report for a couple of cast members and there was this lady behind us who seemed a little bit upset. As we were waiting in line a friendly cast member walked up and the lady asked if she was in the right place to file a complaint. the cast member said yes but upon realising that the lady seemed upset she suggested that the lady explain her situation to her, maybe she could help. The lady said that she had been riding the Casey Junior train with her children and when they borded the ride no one came along to check and see if the door was shut. she claimed that during the ride the door came open and scraped along the wall and she got a bunch of dust and bits of gravel in her eye's. The cm tried to explain that they have sensors and things that check to make sure the doors are locked but the lady pressed on saying that the cm operating the ride didnt even check when she told him what happened and just sent her to first aid. then she was upset because all first aid had was water to wash out her eyes, no eye drops. Anyway the cm acted like she though the story seemed unlikley but still didnt let on to much, offered to help the lady but the lady just kind of freaked out saying that she just needed to make the complaint, that it ruined her day and stuff. but oddly enough there were no other reports of something going wrong with the ride, no evidence at all. WHen she went into city hall and the worker went into a back room to get something she started to make herself cry as if in frustration and she was muttering to herself and looking at us. she went on to sort of give the cast member working at the desk a hard time, as if it was they're fault.

Anyway its just frustrating to me....i bet you anything she was just trying to see if she could get somethign free out of the deal. you know front of the line passes and such, as far as i know she got nothing but it still frustrates me all the people that are there just for themselves. the people that shove others out of the way to get better seats for the fireworks or fantasmic, the people who push you with strollers or run into you without apologizing or even acting like they saw you...disneyland is the happiest place on earth but sometimes it simply doesnt bring out the best in people. so a few questions:

Did anyone else hear of any problems with the train?? Any reports of a malfunction???

And has anyone else had these simply outraging experiences that just make you want to slap people across the face...i have so many, all guests being rude not cm's i could go on forever. Some people!!!

I've run into my share of rude people but I don't let them get to me. I usually walk away and realize I'm there to have a good time and that's what I'll do. If they are there to complain, that's their deal. I've actually been hurt but never serious enough that it's spoiled my fun. I do suppose if that happened I'd be ticked. But outside of that, I'm good. They can complain and frown. I'm there having fun. They must HATE me! LOL!

    Enter my in-laws.

They got stuck on Pirates, and there really was nobody to direct them where to go, and they went all around, in the underground tunnels, and ended up in a parking lot. Then, they were able to get back in the park somehow, went to City Hall and complained. They got half day passes out of it, but had they NOT gotten anything out of complaining (they think they own the world) there would have been a Disneyland boycott, or something.

Later after that incident, my DH and FIL were on Screamin' and it broke down right before they were shot off. So, of course, they had CM's there taking people off the ride. My soon to be ex- Step-MIL (they are getting a divorce), then leaned over and said, "Oh, it must have been our complaint about Pirates that they are now making sure they have enough CM's on each ride to help people out."

Yeah, cause everything that you say changes the way that Disney does things all together.

They are just those types of people that are VERY controlling, and want something for any little trouble that they have on anything. I am sure if the line to City Hall were a mile long, and something like Casey Jr. happened, they would still stand in line for it, and demand something.

You are lucky enough that you didn't have any relation to the woman who was complaining. I on the other hand am not as lucky!

It is also one thing to complain in order to receive something for nothing. When I complain about a situation to a company I do it just to inform them of something that I am displeased with and expect nothing in return.

I don't know and I don't care if It's a Small World. It's a nice day when you wake up in Disneyland.

I totally agree! I don't expect anything when I speak to someone about things I am not happy with.

And there are people who run Enron bilking people out of their life savings, and CEOs who sell over $100 million in Qwest stock before news of fraudulent accounting, or people who kill their wife and unborn son rather than get a divorse (Scott Peterson), or...

There are far worse people in the world. Live your life being the best person you can be and hope karma deals with the rest. It may not, but the one sure thing is that letting it get you down will ruin your time and life is too short.

Think about it this way. You had to endure that woman for some small amount of time. She needs to endure herself 24/7. That can't be a pleasant existance.

You remind me of Earl from the show, "My name is Earl".

Having never seen the show I can't tell if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

It's nothing bad. It is actually a cute show. It talks about Karma like no other, it's based on Karma, that is why you remind me of him.

The ones that get to me are the parents that are dragging there children threw the park. It is very obviouse that the kid is in aawwww by what he his seeing be it the castle, splash, HM, or anything else that catches there eye the kid stops for a half second to take it in and there is one of there parents yelling at them to hurry up we need to get in line. then continuing to go on and on at the child. Yelling why arnt you haveing fun . come here stand still dont touch that no we cant go there right now.....
any way they are the ones that realy get to me.

ooh and I dont have anything against people in wheel chair. (my grandmother has been in one for years) but when its crouded and your walking with your family (my wife son and I all holding hands) and we stop to let some people cross infront of us we always wait to make sure that there is no one directly behind us. well we were stopping for some one in a wheel chair before we ran into them head on. then some one else in a wheel chair came across from our side almost takeing out my leg. yell for us to get out of here way because she was in a wheel chair. Well I just smiled and in my most un disney voice gave her a good "HEY!! he's in a wheel chair to at least he isnt rude like you" Just the look on the persons face like I just stole her day. well the other person was very greatfull. any way i will get off the apple box and let some one else step up.

    Thanks for listening.

I hate it when full grown adults act like babies. Casey Jr. is a very small train with very small cars. Why didn't the woman just reach over and close the door? As for the dust in the eyes, if it had been me I would have allowed my eyes to wash the dust out naturally and then inform the CM about the door. Not because I'd be angry but because I wouldn't want anyone getting hurt. I know Disneyland is a place where adults let their inner child come out but some people tend to revert back into childhood a little to far.

[$.02] I've noticed that Disneyland brings out the best/kindness in people but it also can bring out the worst in people. I like to go to DL when it's not crowded - the people seem to be in a better mood. [/$.02]

As annoying as this woman may have been, lying to her wasn't any better. The CM telling her that the doors have sensors and couldn't have been open was not a good move. That ride has cars with no door or the "cages" that do have doors, but they are about as high tech as any cabinet latch you can get at your local home depot.

I think the lady had every right to complain about a safety issues such as that. I think she could have handled it in a more adult way but if an attraction malfunctions or is not operated safely I am glade she complained to make sure that the problem is addressed and it does not happen when my children are on the attraction.
There is no reason to yell or blame the people in City Hall they are there to help not to be a punching bag.

Thinking about the ride, wouldn't the door hit the wall and then bounce back to the car like it was closing? It wouldn't scrape at all.

Casey Jr circus train does have sensors with the doors themselves ( the animal cages and the caboose ). There is a light that would indicate to the CM that either one or more doors is not locked correctly. Thing is, the indicator does not tell the CM which door is not locked, so if it is lit the CM would have to check each door until the light goes out.

But even if the indicator light was not lit, the CM should still check the doors manually and not rely on the light 100%. So I would say that the story of the CM not checking the doors and then sometime during the ride, it opens up is possible.

This reminds me of the last time we were there. This woman was screaming at her daughter, who was in tears. The little girl did not want to go on the Pirates because she was scared. Her mom was just vicious to her, screaming "I didn't come all the way across the country and spend all this money on you just so you wouldn't go on the ride".

We also had this family cut to the front of the line at the MS Train Station. The station was packed, there was a huge line. There was my family and another family ahead of us at the front of the line. This other family just by passed the line and cut in front of us to the head of the line. They were speaking English until a CM came up to them and told them they had to go to the end of the line all of the sudden these people who were speaking perfect English before broke out in Spanish as if they did not understand English, this of course didn't work the CM answered them in Spanish. Thank goodness for those observant CM's.

OK, I'm sensitive to this one because I have a little girl that is scared of everything. I conjole, I pretend to get angry, I do everthing to get her on rides and she is often crying. I always feel that it must look terrible to others. The thing is they don't see her smiling and scream with delite about how much she loved it at the end of the ride.

Of course our fights have been about the Storyland Boats, the Dumbo ride... not Pirates. I wouldn't even try that one, and this is and eight-year-old.

When we tried to take our daughter on Pirates she was fine until we got inside. Once we were inside she started crying and saying she did not want to go on it. We couldn't get out of line and when we got to the point of boarding we informed the cast member that we would not be riding. The look he gave us was one of disgust. I was thinking would you rather us just walk across the boat and exit or have a screaming 3 year old on the ride.

What is the purpose of fighting, pretending to get angry or, screaming at a child because they don't want to go on a ride? Little kids get scared, why stress them out more by doing this. You are there to have fun, if the kid doesn't want to go on a certain ride try something else. My son doesn't and never has liked the rollercoasters, the drop rides, dumbo, etc. We never argued or forced him to do these things and it did not ruin our fun or his at Disneyland. He is now 18 and still won't go on those rides, he has his favorte things to do and that is just fine with him.

    Two point:
-There are some people at the park without kids who push people and grab people to get past them without thinking. I've mentioned a few times on the board how I was walking near Greetings and during a parade and had a lady grab my chest to push past me. I was thinking she had a kid that was lost, but no that wasn't the case. It's people like that that ruin the park for me. Where I question why I renew my pass. And the funny thing is SHE WAS OLD! I am 24, 23 at the time! I should have been the hole!
-The kid screaming not wanting to go on the ride, yeah I was that type of kid. It was only until I had my AP for 2 years that I opened my eyes on Indy. I was freaked at the Jungle Cruise. I think I was part of the reason the kid/parent pass came to be. I would cry in front of rides until I was 8. At one point I was on the Swiss Family Robinson house and couldn't go down the stairs and my dad had to grab me, throw me over his shoulder, and take me down because I was so scared (and I was like 8ish). People probably thought my dad was horrible, but I am a big fear of heights. So the kid freaking out: remember we were probably all that kid at one point or another.

My own little world is what I deserve, cause I am the only child there is.

During my last trip everyone was in line for the monorail and then I heard the group behind me talking. It was a dad and his two sons probably 13 and 10 years old. The 13 year old was telling his dad that the man behind them pinched him to tell him to go because he wasn't paying attention and had stopped the line. The dad was so angry and talking about punching the older guy who pinched his kid. I seriously thought I was going to see a fight.

The thing is that I don't even think the guy really pinched the kid. The kid seemed like he was exagurating the story and just was in a bad mood.

    Eek!

I've got a complaint about people in the park. These are the ones who do not hear the part of rides or shows that say "no flash photography", yet they still seem to miss this part.

This happens on many occasions of various rides, but this one time on Pirates, I turned to look at something and "POW". Right into the retinas I tell you. I honestly do not think I could see for 15 seconds afterwards. You know, the big $1000 dollar digital flash camera style "POW".

Fortunately, the lady saw the error of her ways and said she was sorry and did not do it again.

I mean, really, is not part of the magic just using your memory recall. Instead of spending time taking tons of pictures, enjoy the moment for a change.

I'm done complaining. I must apologise since this has recently happended to me. It seems funny to me now honestly.
