Dukes of Hazzard Movie/These Boots Video

How many of you have seen or plan to see the Dukes of Hazard Movie and/or These Boots are Made for Walking video with Jessica Simpson?

I will NOT be seeing the movie (never watched the television program). However, I had the unfortunate experience of seeing the video. Egads! It was terrible!

I can't believe the-powers-that-be made yet another "movie" from an old television program...aren't there any fresh new ideas out there?

And, no one can sing "These Boots" but Nancy Sinatra...that is just plain wrong.

Okay, I'm done...I just had to get that off my chest, it was really bothering me.

I may go see it, but only cuz I think Sean William Scott is hilarious.

I loved the "Boots" video. Probably because I'm a boy.

I'm boycotting the film out of respect for the Tv show. Granted, it show was never the greatest bit of entertainment ever concieved, but I did grow up an avid fan (had the board game, lunch box, etc...). I was actually all for the idea of a new version were it DONE RIGHT, but that is a concept which seems to have excaped the powers that be. The first mistake they made was allowing the guy from Broken lizard to write and direct. he then cast it horribly, and made a craptacular film (from what I can tell anyway). the film should have been Fast & the Furious in the country, but instead they made American Pie with cars.

As for the video.... i was once a fan of Jessica Simpson. Back when all the little blonde pop singers first hit the scene, i thought she was one of the better ones. i liked her voice. In the last couple years she's become total crap. I don't know what she's thinking, who's telling her to do it or why, but she's doing very odd things with her voice which sound absolutely terrible!

I don't really have a problem with TV shows being remade as movies. It doesn't strike me as any emptier an act than books and plays being remade as movies. It has been done well, and it has been done poorly. Which is the same as happens with "original ideas" (see, for example, the original idea of Stealth).

I probably won't see it because I wasn't much of a fan of the show and I am thoroughly not a fan of Johnny Knoxville.

The video is bad, but for some reason I don't mind watching it.

I edited the thread title, since Hazzard has two zees.

I don't think I'll be paying money to see this movie. I can always watch old reruns on CMT if I feel the need for Dukes.

I'm a huge Knoxville fan, so I'm obligated to see it. I actually think it looks pretty entertaining, if not entirely revolutionary.

And for some reason, I find myself drawn to that Simpson video...must be her talent...her supple, jiggling talent.:P

It looks terrible. They had the premier of it last week at a new theater in my city, and everybody was going nuts about it. I get sick of hearing about it! >_<

I was watching a late night show, Jay Leno or Conan(how do you spell his name?), and they said how this movie is nothing like the old tv show. Because this movie actually has a plot

If I go see it it's only because they filmed it here and it's neat to see your home on the big screen. I just wished I had "seen" one of the stars.

I think they went this way as to not upset anyone.

And to the person who had the board game, at least I know I wasn't the only one who had it! I loved the concept of the lil dirt road that they had in the game. But I wonder if any of the original castmembers, with the exception of cooter, are going to make a cameo appearance in the film.

Speaking of Cooter, I read a while back that the guy who played him, was boycotting the film, or just didn't want people to see it. And I for one, in my personal opinion, am tired of Jessica Simpson. She is just getting too overplayed. I liked her better when she was first starting out.

Alex, are you suggesting that this video is best watched, as my son would say, "On mute"?

Man...the reviews of this movie have been mostly scathing!

Did anyone read Kenneth Turan's (sp?) L.A. Times review? It was pretty funny. Sounds like a real stinker.

But I have to say I've seen and love the music video. It's a classic!

Is that because because you think they are better actors or because you don't think Jessica is hot?

Off topic- It is so funny when people wear those dresses and then people take pictures of them but the flash makes the dress see though. They have pictures of Jessica Alba on a radio stations site where I live. And she looks good.

I just think they're better than Jessica Simpson

This is one of those movies that embodies the whole "do you ever listen to critics" question. The only way I would have gone to see this is if the critical consensus was very positive. In this case, it was pretty negative, so that, combined with my lack of interest in the material sealed the deal. Haven't seen the video, but I don't see that many videos anyway.

I agree. I get tired of her dumb act, and her acting in Dukes looks pretty terrible. Even if JS wasn't in it I probably wouldn't see it.

  24. #23

I honestly don't think it's an act. Robert Ebert mentioned in his review of Dukes of Hazard that Jessica admitted in a recent interview she had never heard of Lance Armstrong.

My daughter watches reality shows on MTV and people on those shows are just as dumb. The group who are pretending to be living in the 1970's was recently asked what year the US celebrated the bicentennial. Only one of eight got it right.

I thought Jessica Beil would have been a better choice to fill Daisy's Dukes personally. I also hate the idea of Burt "The Bandit" Reynolds as Boss Hogg. He's the bandit for cryin' out loud! not only that, but seems to come across (in the shots i've seen) too much as the snotty, better than everyone else burt and that's not what the character should be. He may be greedy, and always up to know good, but you never really take him too seriously. He also, though he may cause plenty of trouble for the Dukes when it's just between the locals, is quick to their defense/aid if an outsider comes in and causes trouble.

I wonder if when the TV series started people complained that they had added the Boss Hogg character. "There's no Boss Hogg in the movie!" they all shouted. "Sacrilege!"

Or the fact that in the movie Cooter (Ben Johnson) was a federal agent but became Cooter in the TV show (while the character who played Cooter in the movie didn't play Cooter in the TV show, but did show up in the Enis spin-off as a detective.)
