I'm finally getting around to writing my report. Sometimes I need a vacation to recover from my vacation! I had to attend a seminar at the PP Hotel on Tues and Wed so we went down without the kids and added on a couple extra days to celebrate our anniversary which was June 1. Sort of a 2nd honeymoon since we spent our original one at DL. It was great to know that we weren't bound to the kids schedules and we really enjoyed being alone at the park.
My DH and I drove down on Monday the 20th and got to the motel at 1:30 pm so we unpacked and went straight to the park. What Crowds!!! You could hardly move and there were long lines for everything. But that's all a part of the adventure and we deal with it. We rode Jungle Cruise first because we had heard so much about the new effects. I love that ride and I love the new stuff. Then it was on to Indy, my favorite ride after that we walked around and then rode the Mark Twain because my husband had never done that. We got the last boat before they closed for the day. Afterwards we headed for the hub and staked out our seats for the fireworks. I had to see them after reading so much about them on MP. We got seats on the curb facing the castle and were directly opposite the drawbridge, front and center. We met so many wonderful people in the 3 or so hours that we were there and everyone was so willing to save each other's seats so you could get up and wander or ride a ride, etc. The fireworks....what can I say. It was worth the 3 hour wait to see them and Tinkerbelle's new rigging...Awesome. I have loved the fireworks since I was a kid and I just adore Tink so for me it brought me right back to childhood. I sat oooohhhhing and awwwing and clapping through the whole thing.
The next day I had the seminar all day and it's the first time I'd been inside the PP Hotel and it was very nice. If anyone has a chance to attend a seminar there do so. The lunch they served was amazing and we all got one of the 50th anniversary MM desserts. Made sitting through a boring seminar much more bearable. That evening we had balcony seating for Fantasmic at 10:30 so we went to the French Market and got kids meals and then we rode POTC and HM and the train around the park. Now this is the first time I have seen F in it's entirety and I have to say that it really wasn't worth the $106 to me. The desserts were okay but way too rich and the CM's seemed tired and bored with the whole thing and weren't really very friendly. Also, if you are into Fantasia then Fantasmic would be great for you and I must say that I do appreciate the technology of the show but other than that I probably won't stop to see the show again.
We didn't go back until Thursday and then we spent the day at DCA. TOT had only 1 elevator going in the morning and the wait was 2 hours so we passed on that but we got Fast Pass for Soarin' and I love that ride. We went to Golden Dreams which I thought was fascinating and then we saw D.U.H. which is hysterical. Later we went to Aladin and I really loved that, I had heard so much about it and I wasn't disappointed. Also we did a wine tasting at the Wine Country place, sorry I'm not good with names. But the lady that did the presentation was wonderful and her name is Elizabeth. I really enjoyed being able to taste wine and she was so knowledgable. Great feature for DCA to put in for adults.
Friday we spent the day at DL and had lunch at the Blue Bayou. What a treat for me because it was my first time and I have wanted to go there since I was a kid. I had the roast pork loin with rootbeer spiced apples and my DH had the Jambalaya. Great food!!!! We rode POTC again and SM and the Matterhorn and saw the 1st 50 years exhibit. We just wandered Main Street and enjoyed being at DL with no kids. We also rode BTMRR and had a blast. We took the Monorail into DTD where I shopped and my DH went over to DCA to ride the single rider line for GRR because I don't like to get wet. We met afterwards and left for home.
All in all it was a great time. We will return Dec 3-9 with the kids and it will be the first time for all of us at DLR for the holidays. What a blast!!!!!
