Does anyone know if this can be done? I know you can upgrade from a regular park hopper. Also when upgrading is it just difference in price you pay.

first you have to exchange the citypass in for your hopper at the ticketbooth, but yes, it can be done and yes, it's the difference between the hopper value (not sure what it currently is on a citypass hopper) and the AP price.
in fact, just tell them you want to upgrade to the AP before they even give you the hopper, should skip a step.

But if you do that, you could be subject to blockout days on your first vistit, and you would lose out on your Early Entry and the ESPN Zone Game Card.Originally Posted by bradk

Thanks for the input. I figure it is worth the upgrade since we will make another weekly trip in the next year.
OK... I need to take off my "RideMax" hat for a minute and ask about this...
My wife's family is planning a big family reunion at the park in July. (With all of the spouses and kids, there will be more than 50 of us descending on the park for several days.)
Some in the group are thinking about getting the CityPass. Does anyone know how much of the price of the CityPass they will allocate to the AP upgrade?
It looks like these can be had at Costco for $165/adult, or $113 for kids. Anyone know of a better deal?
Thanks!
costco is the best deal for citypass. nobody else sells it for less than the list price of $185. on occasion you might find one up for grabs on ebay, but they usually end up going very close to the $165 mark anyway, so you should just go the costco route.
i was told by ticketing that the previous citypass's hopper which was less expensive for adults had a value of $145 I think. I never got a value of the new hopper, but I would expect it to be around that. If anything, it might be a slightly higher value because of the raised citypass price.

The current 3 day ParkHopper Advance Purchase discounted ticket at Disneyland.com is $139 (Good Neighbor Hotel tickets are $144).
More than likely, you should get a credit for about $139 for the DLR portion of the CityPass ticket....
By far, Costco.com is the best deal!!!!
