Can anyone tell me what stops there are on the DL monorail? Are any of the hotels attached like at WDW?
Thanks.

i believe there are just two. one in the DL park in Tomorrowland and the other outside the park which acts as an entrance, and somewhat serves the Disneyland Hotel, but it does not go directly to it.
the monorail is an attraction, not a form of transportation. of course, the same could be said for the one in WDW as well, although WDW's is slightly more sophisiticated.

There are no hotels on the route, just Downtown Disney and Tommorowland. The Disneyland Hotel and Grand Californian are both within walking distance to the parks. The DIsneyland Hotel is fairly close to the monorail station.Originally Posted by dra_rosie_k
The DL monorail only stops in Downtown Disney and in Tomorrowland inside DL. It does not directly connect to any hotels like the monorail in WDW. You must have valid admission media to Disneyland to ride the monorail. You can ride roundtrip from Tomorrowland, you don't have to disembark in DTD. However, all guests must exit at the Tomorrowland station.
And the best place to ride is in the front, you just have to ask!

Everyone is right...there are only 2 stops - tomorrowland and DTD. However, back in the olden days...(when dirt was still rock)...the DTD stop was actually at the Disneyland hotel property. It was a cool little (and for awhile) unknown trick - you would park at the hotel and take the monorail into the park. Then, at the end of the night, you could avoid all the crowds trying to leave Disneyland by bypassing the maingate and parking lot. It's a wonderful memory. We also used to go over to the hotel and pretend we were staying there. They had some cute little shops and (when we got older) a bar at the top of the tower facing the park. memories....
It's funny that you say that. I ALWAYS run into people that swear that the DH stop used to be right at the hotel itself and that they moved it. I think they just get confused 'cause there used to be DH affiliated shops and restaurants stretching from the main hotel towers to the monorail station. Of course, they're all gone now and replaced with downtown disney.
I sure do miss that 50's style diner that was right at the foot of the station (What was it called?). We'd always have a late night snack before heading back to the room. Ah, the good ol' days (circa 1996...)
Wasn't that the Monorail Cafe?Originally Posted by bigugly
Yeah, I think that's what it was called. I remember going there when my wife and I were at the park on our honeymoon. It was such a cool place to wind down before actually going back to the room...
Yes, the Monorail Cafe was removed in 1999 for the addition of Downtown Disney and DCA. http://www.mouseplanet.com/drr/drryester.htm
Nope! I know they didn't move the monorail!
And they didn't move the hotel...the stop was technically before the hotel, but on the hotel property. Then, you had to get off and walk toward the hotel to actually reach the hotel ... but, we still considered it to be the "hotel stop" -
Wow...I remember eating at the monorail cafe! I do miss those times...
Oh yeah, arctic, don't get me wrong. I could tell from your post that you knew the station hasn't been moved. It's just interesting how many people I run into who absolutely insist that -
a) it used to stop right at the hotel towers
b) it used to stop at the parking lot
It's sort of on par with the multiple people I've run into that SWEAR that they've eaten dinner at the Tiki Room. Obviously, they're actually remembering the Tahitian Terrace, but the memories have become intertwined over the years...
you know in my 26+ years of going to disneyland ive NEVER done that... sad reallyAnd the best place to ride is in the front, you just have to ask!
GRIMMGREEN
they used to give some sort of certificate or something for riding in the front of the monorail too. not anymore to my understanding. so sad.

Ok, you know you have ridden in the front way way too much, when you can recognize who is driving the other monorail just by their voice over the radio.

Not to drag too much WDW into the DL forum, but I got a little monorail pilot card when I rode in the front at WDW last October. Too bad they don't do that at DL still.Originally Posted by bradk

Maybe they'll eventually bring it back. They only went back to letting people ride in the front last year...Originally Posted by Drince88
