Disneyland novice--amateur's question about the monorail

Can anyone tell me what stops there are on the DL monorail? Are any of the hotels attached like at WDW?

    Thanks.

i believe there are just two. one in the DL park in Tomorrowland and the other outside the park which acts as an entrance, and somewhat serves the Disneyland Hotel, but it does not go directly to it.

the monorail is an attraction, not a form of transportation. of course, the same could be said for the one in WDW as well, although WDW's is slightly more sophisiticated.

There are no hotels on the route, just Downtown Disney and Tommorowland. The Disneyland Hotel and Grand Californian are both within walking distance to the parks. The DIsneyland Hotel is fairly close to the monorail station.

When we are staying at the Disneyland hotel, is it better to enter the park at opening from the monorail or walk to the gate for opening?

Enter the park through the main gate at least one of the days you're there...maybe even the first...so you get the feeling of entering through the tunnel and coming out into a different world.

I'll probably be using the monorail because it's easier and quicker...and my son is really wanting to ride Buzz first thing there.

Yeah, and if you're there at opening, you can experience rope-drop. I love rope drop...

The DL monorail only stops in Downtown Disney and in Tomorrowland inside DL. It does not directly connect to any hotels like the monorail in WDW. You must have valid admission media to Disneyland to ride the monorail. You can ride roundtrip from Tomorrowland, you don't have to disembark in DTD. However, all guests must exit at the Tomorrowland station.

And the best place to ride is in the front, you just have to ask!

Everyone is right...there are only 2 stops - tomorrowland and DTD. However, back in the olden days...(when dirt was still rock)...the DTD stop was actually at the Disneyland hotel property. It was a cool little (and for awhile) unknown trick - you would park at the hotel and take the monorail into the park. Then, at the end of the night, you could avoid all the crowds trying to leave Disneyland by bypassing the maingate and parking lot. It's a wonderful memory. We also used to go over to the hotel and pretend we were staying there. They had some cute little shops and (when we got older) a bar at the top of the tower facing the park. memories....

It's funny that you say that. I ALWAYS run into people that swear that the DH stop used to be right at the hotel itself and that they moved it. I think they just get confused 'cause there used to be DH affiliated shops and restaurants stretching from the main hotel towers to the monorail station. Of course, they're all gone now and replaced with downtown disney.

I sure do miss that 50's style diner that was right at the foot of the station (What was it called?). We'd always have a late night snack before heading back to the room. Ah, the good ol' days (circa 1996...)

    Wasn't that the Monorail Cafe?
