Cool satellite map of Disneyland at Google

Google recently bought Keyhole and is now offering free satellite images. I pulled up the Disneyland area. It's quite cool and, I'm pretty sure, quite recent.

To view the Disneyland area, or any other area in the U.S., go to http://maps.google.com . You can search on Anaheim or just keep zooming into the SoCal area. When you see the area of Harbor and Katella, click the "Satellite" link. Be patient, it can take awhile to load. From there you can continue to zoom in or pan around.

Although I've seen several overhead shots of Disneyland, none of the others were as complete. You can navigate all around Disneyland, DCA, and the entire surrounding area. It's not extremely close, but's it's very expansive.

that is a cool shot. when i was flying back from a trip to OR i was able to see half dome in Yosimite. and then before i knew it i was looking down at Magic Mountain then Boom there was DLR. it was so cool i wished i had a camera with me. It was also cool to know that i was almost back to Sunny San Diego.

not to downplay google's map system, but there is a better on out there where it is an actual picture that you can zoom in very far on (more than google's). http://www.terraserver.microsoft.com/default.aspx You can search anywhere in the United States (except most government buildings, and get very close views of them. The nice thing is you can click on the image and zoom instead of fighting with google's zoom bar. here is a direct link to a close up of the hub in disneyland: http://www.terraserver.microsoft.com...sneyland%7c%7c

Well the photo of my house is over a year old. I can tell because, just up the street, there is an empty lot that now has an office bldg on it. The builders have been working on that lot for over a year.

Ok, I tried your links and they are worse than googles. The aerial photo of my house at terraserver is from 1997. It doesn't even show the new freeway that's been in for several years now. Also, I can't click and zoom anywhere on the pic. Am I doing something wrong?

yeah, with terraserver, the pics are old, but you can zoom in further. You know what it looks like now. hey, at least you can zoom in close on your house close enough to see it close up (unlike googles). The pic may be old, but I think the zoom counterbalances it. But then again that's just my opinion... and I could be wrong.

I could not zoom in very close with the pic I pulled up using terraserver. Is there some sort of trick to it? The zoom button on the side didn't zoom very much and clicking on the pic did nada.

Anyone notice how lush and green disneyland is and how plain DCA looks? I really wish they would add a ton of trees to DCA like Disneyland has. I think with trees they can add some quality to the surroundings.

All I ever got on the Google site is an animated map, no satellite photo. What am I doing wrong?????

There's a link in the upper right area of the page that reads "Satellite". Click on this link and it should convert your map to a satellite image.
