Woman Gives Birth At ESPN Restaurant - KNBC (LA), 3/31/05

    http://www.nbc4.tv/news/4336589/detail.html

QuikQuote: At least three sports fans have named their babies ESPN, but a woman did them one better Thursday, giving birth to a bouncing baby girl in the rest room of the ESPN Zone restaurant in Downtown Disney (Anaheim). Paramedics were called to the eatery at 4:10 p.m. at 1545 S. Disneyland Drive and found the newborn when they arrived, said Maria Sabol of the Anaheim Fire Department.
"As far as the medics could tell, it appears that the baby was breathing on her own," Sabol said. The mother, who is from the Bay Area, was accompanied in the rest room by her mother and grandmother, Sabol said. Another couple also witnessed the birth, she said.

wonder if she gets a free mini-cooler for that.

ok, now about this other couple witnessing the birth. gay? or is there just some weird stuff going on in that restroom?

(i'm being completely tired and rhetorical).

You think they could give the kid free starters for the rest of it's life or something. As for naming your Kid ESPN, sometimes parents shouldn't be allowed to be so cruel. there should eb some sort of law that stops names like that being registered. Imagine of the poor kid is going to survive at school? (IT's hard enough when you have a "normalish" name that no one else you have even know (like my name) has).

I've heard of this. And actually, I think their names are "Espn," pronounced "Esspen." At least one couple that was interviewed in the article I read, were huge ESPN fans.

lol... We were there walking right past ESPN just as the fire engines were pulling up into what must have been Downtown Disneys parking lot..! I thought that those sirens sounded close! lol.. not to mention we were in ESPN not even 1.5 hours afterwards... that would be why the bathroom was closed!

^ Thank goodness that the ESPN Zone has multiple restrooms, I know of 2 sets on the ground floor, and one on the upper level... Which one was the "birthing room"?

I heard this morning that the baby wasn't actually due until June or July.
They said they did give them a cooler filled with stuff!

ah ha.. the mini-cooler strikes again.

we can't give you diapers, but here's an insulated sleeve for the bottle to help keep your baby's beer cold

OK, that makes me wonder, has anyone ever delivered a baby at Disneyland? That would make a real story!

well since noone ever technically dies at disneyland, it makes sense that noone should be born there either. that would just create an insane population growth problem.
