Halloween!
Hi, just found the dates posted for the MNSSHP and it gave a number to call for reservations....questions....
How far out do you have to call for tickets? We are going the first week in Oct which shouldn't be so busy.
Also, it said 'make your Liberty Tree res. now too'. What exactly would I be reserving at "Liberty Tree"?

The Liberty Tree Tavern is a restaurant in Liberty Square. They offer a table-service lunch menu, and a character buffet dinner.
-
I am surprised that they are selling them already...I do not think they sold them until March 31, April 1 last year. But maybe they bumped them up. If you plan on going on Halloween or any Friday, I think I would try to get the tickets now. Halloween Night sells out the fastest. I would also book the Liberty Tree if you remotely want to eat there. My family loves the Liberty Tree Tavern and I did not book it at first because we thought we would fore-go that restaurant this trip and try a couple of others. But we later decided, maybe it would be nice to get there early and eat, then go right out to the Halloween Party activities...well by then it was booked up beyond belief so we did not get to eat there

So, if I could do it over again, I would have booked Liberty Tree Tavern the minute I bought my tickets for the MNSSHP...I think this is the only time they ever book PS this far in advance for Liberty Tree too...it typically falls into the 90 day out range.

Where did you find the dates? I checked the WDW web page today, and there were none listed. It said 2005 dates yet to be announced.

Thanks...another question or two....
what if you pick a night for the MNSSHP and it rains heavily? Just want to know if I should book earlier in the week just in case....Will they let you go to the next night available? Or do you just lose out? Also, will the first Friday they do it (Oct 7) be busy, since it is so early in the month?
-
Sorry!!
I found the dates at disboards.com under the 'events' category

My guess is that unless the park is closed that day (due to hurricane), it is unlikely that the party would be cancelled because of weather - so you get to enjoy the party in the rain! I doubt if they'd let you transfer your ticket to another day (but I've been wrong before) but I'm sure they'd be more than happy to let you buy another ticket for a day later in your visit
-
I'm sure they would be happy to get more money too! We all wanted to dress up and I just can't see it happening if it rains which means I will have a few cranky kids (and grown-ups) on my hands!
-
When we went back in 2001 it rained cats and dogs, and no they didnt cancel anything or offer anyone an alternative. The last few years we've been really lucky with the weather. That being said, they didnt close any rides because of rain, most are inside anyway. We rode big thunder, dumbo, the speedway cars etc in a downpour. Splash mountain was really fun in the rain. And you know what? that was the least crowded party we ever went too in 8 attempts so far
. So bring the ponchos just in case and have fun
.
As for the dates, they are printed right on the back of the ticket. So the official policy is the tickets are only good for the date on them, period . Again, anything is possible i guess.
As for friday nights, sure theyre going to be a little more crowded than a weeknight due to local children being able to come out and stay up til midnight, but early in the month you should be ok, although i think a few days in early october did end up selling out last year ( i thought i read that here somewhere, hopefully Mark G. could help out with that one? lol)
hope that helps a little.

ps, we bought clear ponchos at walmart and it let everyone still be able to see everyone's costumes under the ponchos.

We went Friday, 10-8-04 since it was our only opportunity. It was a sold-out night and seemed surprisingly crowded, so if you can go during the week, I'd recommend it. The weather was perfect the whole trip--not a drop of rain.
The picture lines were reasonable, but the ride lines were long. Still, there's plenty of other things to do and see. The parade, decorations, fireworks, and characters were great! Don't miss the ride of the Headless Horseman at the start of the parade and seeing Cinderella's Coach in Fantasyland!

Yeah, put me on the spot, Mike!
The only dates that I listed in the Updates as being sold out were 10/29 and 10/31, but it's quite possible that most Fridays sold out and I just didn't note them. Generally, Fridays and the final week (and especially Halloween night itself) are the nights that sell out. Weekdays, especially early weekdays, are less in danger of selling out.
-
lol thought you'd like that mark, oh master guru of the mouse.
Actually we were there on 10/31/04 and yep it was sold out, and no we didnt wait in line for a single ride. I'm sure there were people who did. The only rides we really skipped were peter pan and dumbo that night. All i can say to that is, if you're in crazy big crowds for rides, head to a different part of the park, then go either clockwise, or counterclockwise(your choice) and you'll prob. be away from the crowds all night.
i mean the night was sold out a few months before hand and i was really concerned since we had such good experiences on past trips. We didnt wait for a single ride, splash, space, big thunder, pirates, stitch, buzz...not even the haunted mansion. So i guess its just a matter of being either in front of or behind the majority of peeps as they make their way around
oh and ask my brother tom about our group and one other family of 4 in the tiki room all alone. It was both very strange and very cool lol. actually it kinda freaked me out a lil. lol

We too were there on Oct 31st and only waited for a few minutes for Dumbo. We got there at 6:15 and hopped right back to Fantasy Land where we rode Snow White, Pooh and all those multiple times. We then jetted over to Tomorrowland where we did Buzz numerous times. We then worked our way over to Adventure land where there were short waits of like 5 minutes TOPS for Big Thunder Mountain, Splash, etc. We worked it this way so that we could watch the parade from this area. I would not hesitate one bit to go back. We were thrilled with the party. We only found that the Trick or Treat lines were long but my kids were more into the parade and riding rides than trick or treating. We plan on doing the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party when we go back next time! That is the reason why we are waiting so long to go back...to be able to do the Christmas Party and to see WDW all done up for Christmas!!!

Exactly. ummmm k? December 1 2006??? this is getting too weird, looks like we're going again at the same time lol. we wanted to swing it this year for december 2, but it is HIGHLY unlikely. Not saying it wont happen yet though (still buying those lottery tickets each week lol). Maybe a long lost rich cousin of mine could kick the bucket? who knows? j/k lol but at this point 2006 is the likely next trip.

back on track, thats a good point about the treat lines k. Our kids were the same way. They wanted rides/parade/fireworks and didnt care much about trick or treating, and there were lines for that all night, so that was a good thing. $25 each in disney dollars at the downtown disney candy store, and the fudge we bought in mgm took care of their candy cravings for the trip hehe.

Does anyone know what time they actually "let you into" MK for the MNSSHP? I know it is a seperate ticket, and I was thinking that that day we might just take it easy and swim or something, since we will be going to the park in the evening.
-
We will be at WDW for the very first time during this time - can somebody point me to, or tell me what goes on here? And why you need to buy tickets?
Thanks!
-
Its a seperate ticketed event socal. If you dont have a ticket, you'll be ushered out of MK by 6pm on party days. As for what time you get in, they said they would crack down this past year, they didnt lol. We got in at 5pm for the 7pm party and were ushered to a designated area of the park until 7. We've been 5 times throughout the years and the "designated area" has been fantasyland or tomorrowland each of the times we have been.
as for what its all about, here's some links to better explain it. The mouseplanet guys and gals have covered it very well.
mark g's article 2003: http://www.mouseplanet.com/mark/mg031031.htm
AVP's article 2002: http://www.mouseplanet.com/wdwupdate..._halloween.htm
Sue Holland's Article 2001:

that should git-r-done. Any other questions fire away, theres a bunch of us round here that have been to it quite a bit.

Can anyone tell me the time that the "mnsshp" runs? We will be getting in at about 3:00 pm on a Tuesday. So, I figure by the time we get to the hotel and settled it will be about 5:00. This might be a good night to do the halloween thing (we are staying at the Poly so the commute will be short and sweet!!)...The other nights that we could would be a friday night or a sunday night. I would think the Friday would be more crowded...maybe Sunday would be OK though...any thoughts on that?
-
The party goes from 7pm-midnight. You can get in earlier with your ticket though. We went at just about 6pm last time when they were clearing out the parks and it was wonderful...no waits on anything. It got busier throughout the night but there were still very small waits if any for most of the rides. These parties are the way to go!

Depends on how early you had to get up that morning, and the ages of everyone you're traveling with (and time zones, though that might be a lesser problem going to the East Coast, unless you're in Great Britian).

Mnsshp
I just called and was told by Disney Dining reservations that the tickets for this years MNSSHP have not gone on sale yet and won't probably until end of July. We are going to be there on the 31st and don't want to miss out. We have been in prior years in early Oct.

I would double check with another agent on that. I thought I had bought mine on April 1st last year...it may have been May 1st but I know it was not that late in the summer. Mark posted in a previous WDW update this information saying the tickets went on sale the previous weekend so that would be be May 1st?? Which sounds about right now that I think about it. I bought mine on May 1st but had a CM tell me that they went on sale April 30. Of course, these dates will not be the same this year but I would think that the same weekend at least. I would call the first weekend of May and see what they say. I just called a few times until I had a CM who was actually able to tell me that the tickets went on sale in a "couple of weeks" then I called every couple of days close to that time frame since I wanted to make sure we got out tickets for Halloween night. Compulsive and neurotic, yes I am
