Rides that get better at night

First of all, yes, I know they're "attractions."
I was thinking about it and realized that I like Disneyland at night so much more than during the day. I'm not sure why but it may have to do with all the pretty lights Anyway, the rides I think are better at night are:

    • Mark Twain - I've never been on it at night but I plan to on Saturday. I can see it being amazing due to the NOS lights, though.
    • Matterhorn / BTMRR - It's that much more exciting when it's harder to see where you're going.
    • Storybookland Canal Boats - The little houses look so much better with all the lights.
    • Splash Mountain - Though this ride is mostly indoors, the few outside parts (especially the drop) are better at night because of the view you get.

Jungle Cruise is a bit better at night. Astro Orbiter & Dumbo, Carousel, Mad Tea Party all get better, too.

Honestly...the biggest difference has to be the Matterhorn.

It just seems so slow and clunky during the daytime. I've always called it "Slope Box Derby."

Big Thunder seems faster at night too, but doesn't have anywhere near a difference in perceived speed day vs. night, as the Matterhorn does, IMHO.

Number one for me is Big Thunder. I find the ride boring in the daytime but definitely fun at night.

And second is actually Haunted Mansion. Yeah, I know, it's indoors, but when you go in the daytime, your eyes aren't adjusted to the darker tone, so there's actually a lot you don't see. At night, your eyes are already used to the darker light, so when you go on the ride, you actually see a lot more of the details.

    Good thing, too.

Dumbo! I love to ride Dumbo at night because you can look down at the lights and Fantasyland.

any ride you're on when the fireworks are going off!

Especially pulling into the park right then on the Monorail - the anticipation of the magic that awaits is what it's all about .

Or coming out of a Matterhorn tunnel with the sky lit up!

Big Thunder is a must once the sun gose down. Its so much better at night. Jungle Book is better at nice because its slightly more mysterious then during the daytime.

I'm not so much of a factor this is when the skippers are sticking strictly to script, but I always thought the "good" Jungle Cruise skippers did better in the evening - either because they were more relaxed?

I would have to say that disneyland overall has a WAY better atmosphere at night. something about all the lights that bring out the (freshly painted) colors and stuff. also I think the more "thrill" type rides are better at night probably because you cant really see as far in front of you.

ohh and i know its not in disneyland but my favorite ride ever at night is ghostrider at knotts.

The Sun Wheel is cool at night because you can see all of DLR from the top, and the lights are just so cool.

To the person who said Haunted Mansion at night... for the same reason, I always LOVED Space Mountain at night. There was just something about it being dark outside and in. My brother always loved Pirates at night. Silly, huh?

My current fave at night is the Matterhorn. There's something about the mountain that just doesn't always work during the day for me. But at night, it's all just a little more thrilling.

They close it during the parade, but it reopens afterward. It's neat at night because of all the little lights in the buildings, tiny streetlamps, etc.

The matterhorn at night while the fireworks are going is the best thing since sliced bread.
