    Old Disneyland Sign

I've always kinda wondered this question: why did they take down the original D-Land sign on Harbour Blvd? I remember seeing it when I was down there in 1990 for the 35th, but then I didn't go again till 1999, and it was history. Was it due to the DCA idea or just construction on Harbour? There may be a simple answer that everyone knows...I've just never heard it. I've only become a Disneyland fan since 1999.

    John Stamos reportedly owns it.

Well it was a Disneyland sign, and now it is the Disneyland Resort. I think they could have moved it to the Disneyland side, I loved that sign!

Hmmm I thought he only owned part of it...maybe the whole thing though...I had thought that they broke it up into individual letters and each was sold separately. whatever. I just know I was saddened to see it go and never understood the need to remove a piece of history.

John Stamos? As in "Uncle Joey"? Yikes!!! I never heard that before. What does an ex-Full House star need with one of the greatest signs in history? Unbelievable. What's next...giving the Matterhorn to Alan Thicke? Ha!

Sorry, but he was "Uncle Jesse."

Apparently he's a huge fan, and paid well into 6 figures for it *shrugs* who knew?

(but again, I had thought the 6 figs were for the 'D' only...but I may be way wrong.)

Knew it started with a "J"...thanks for the correction.

According to the divorce papers, he owns only half of it.

It was the sign for the entrance to the parking lot, and there probably was no room for it along the route to the new parking structure.
Putting it on top would have been an interesting option.

According to the net biography on Mr. Stamos, he paid just over $30,000 for it...that's a hell of a deal!!! I would have remortgaged if I had known it was up for sale for that cheap.

Sorry, I'm pretty sure that John is already involved with someone else.

I might be wrong, but I also thought he only bought the "D" from that sign. At least that's the only part of if on display in his "party barn."

I didn't know you were on that team, but yes, John will be available. Not that there's anything wrong with it.
Rebecca Romaine Lettuce is all mine, though.

I don't know where I heard it from but I thought Stamos bought the whole sign and only displayed the D and kept the rest in storage...

I heard he bought it because he and Rebecca had their first date there? Or he proposed there? There was some kind of significance with him buying it.

I want a new version of the original 50's sign - - out by the 5 freeway and Disneyland Drive. What a great advertising to the passersby!

  25. #24
That sign was incredible... I have a picture of me underneath it... I always thought the sign was as exciting as Disneyland itself...

  26. #25

It was one of the first item Disney was selling on eBay thats where it was sold years ago Disney was selling all kinds of rare one of a kind stuff. Now it just another on-line store for them but early on it was great parking signs and the pic's were great some employe in a parking lot taking the pic. There was railing from the POTC after one of the rehabs. Maybe someday they might start selling this stuff again
