Walt Disney Co. to pay Mitchell $500,000 a year as chairman - Press Herald/MaineToday, 7/23/04
The Walt Disney Co. on Friday said it has approved a $500,000 annual retainer for Chairman George Mitchell. The payment to the former Maine senator is retroactive to March 3, when the separate chairman position was created after 45 percent of shareholders withheld their votes to re-elect CEO Michael Eisner to the board. Another unusually large number of shareholders - 24 percent - withheld their votes to re-elect Mitchell to the board.
