Ah! High Pitched Noise coming from CRT!
Ok, at my Grandma's (where I am staying for a week this week), she has a 17in 2 year old Gateway CRT. Recently (within the past month), a VERY high pitched soft screech has been coming from it when it is turned on. I can not sit at the computer for too long because it just starts to give me a major headache. I have checked for any wires touching the screen, or the cables leading to it. None. I have degaussed it and changed the refresh rates. Nothing. I don't know how much longer I can stand it. Please help!

what's "CRT"?
It kinda sounds like what my problem was before. Does it hurt your ears really badly? Try digging up the thread I started last month.

Its the screen. CRT is Chathode (sp?) Ray Tube. So it's not the fan, like yours was.

Cathode ray tube. If it's not a flat screen/LCD monitor it's a CRT.
DF - It probably needs to be taken to the "doctor." Have a repair shop take a look at it. Most shops will charge a reasonable fee to look at it and will apply this fee to the repair.
