Pregnant at Disneyland
I am going to Disneyland with a friend this month and I am about 4 months pregnant. Now I know I can't go on certain rides which is fine since I am an AP holder but my husband things I should not ride the Pirates. The ride has no warnings about riding it so I am wondering about others that ride this board that may have been pregnant during Disneyland visits and if you have gone on this ride or not then. I am going to ask my doctor at my next appt since it will be before we go just so that he can tell my husband if its ok. Anyway I am just wondering what others have done in the past with this. Thanks.

I have no title-I'm a commoner
I've been to DLR while pregnant many times (I have 3 children). When I was almost 3 month pregnant with my 2nd child, I rode everything, including the coasters. I figured it was my risk, and I took it. (this was a personal choice, and I felt comfortable doing that. if you obviously feel uncomfortable doing that, don't. I do know that if I was "showing" I would not have been allowed to ride the rides, but at that point I wasn't).
When I was 8 months pregnant with that same child, and at 7 months pregnant with the last child...I rode Pirates. The two drops are small...and my girls are fine.

Thanks for that. I would have gone on those rides too but I am just feel its to risky for me. At this point there would be no way to anyway cause I have started to show. This is our 2nd child thou. I feel there is no risk in the Pirates otherwise they would have signs posted but my husband things the drops would just be to much and such. He isn't going to be there that day cause its a girls day out but I guess just needed the reassurance since he is saying what he says. LOL Thanks again.

Not being a doctor or even female...here's my advice (so it's really not well qualified advice).
I'd say it really depends on you and what your doctor says. I have a sister that has very difficult pregnancies. (Labor is a synch though. Go figure.) Just walking around Disneyland would put her into turmoil. However, some women can handle the pregnancy better than others. And babies are a little more resilient in there than you think. They're just floating around in there with lots of nice soft organs.
If my wife was as far along as you (by the way, we just found out that we are now pregnant with number 3...so there's my little announcement) and she wanted to go on Pirates, I wouldn't stop her.
Besides, the rides that don't allow pregnant women to ride are usually more concerned about the comfort and well being of the mother then they are the baby. Usually there's a seatbelt or a lap bar that can be pretty uncomfortable and difficult to maneuver. So even if you aren't showing you can get away with going on those rides with no ill effect. But again...see a doctor about that.
Take my love. Take my land.

I don't care, I'm still free.

Since TheOtherAdrienne is on vacation, I'll step in and help.
(Yes, there are two Adriennes, no, it's not to confuse everyone, although it's a really great side-effect)
Adrienne Krock, the one who has kids, wrote about being pregnant at Disneyland. The link is here. http://www.mouseplanet.com/akrock/akrock15.htm
I'm sure that she'll have even more advice for you when she returns. Congrats on your news! (You too, Bill!)

I've been to DL pregnant..Spent the whole day either going to the bathroom or taking my 18month old to the bathroom...anyways!.....Pirates was actually my favorite ride that day...it was dark, cool, I could relax for a little while...(my son fell asleep - added bonus)...it was nice..I think we even rode it twice...the drops were nothing...driving on the freeway to the park was worse...as long as you are not having a problem pregnancy...which you would not be going to DL if you were...walking all day is probably worse than the drops in POC...I wouldn't do Spce Mtn or Matterhorn or Indy maybe...Remember to rest alot...drink lots of water...and have fun with the girls!

Congrats Bill--that's great news-- "children are a gift from the Lord"......
Berry Princess-Just be sure to carry little snacks with you so your blood sugar does not bottom out and do lots of people watching sipping a nice cool drink when tired. (I do that anyway and have not been pregnant for FOUR years

Thank you all for the advice. I'm sure I will need to rest a bit here and there. And this hasn't been a problem pregnancy so far (hope it stays that way too). I will remember to snack and drink my water and everything when I need to. Luckily for me I have been to Disneyland so much that I know where everything is and know where ALL the bathrooms are. LOL I know that is a place I will be visiting often that day. LOL
Bill-Congrats to you and your family on #3. Hope all goes well and you have a healthy baby!!
Adrienne (AVP) Thank you for the link I will go read it right now while I have the chance.
I will be asking my ob about the rides when I go to see him in a week. Just to make sure he says its ok to go on things that I would like to go on. Thanks again everyone for the advice on things. I appreciate it alot.

Ruler, The (Disney) Lands
I wouldn't think that Pirates would be all that much of a risk, being that the most "thrilling" part are the 2 mini-waterfalls. I would not, however, recommend any of the mountains, Indy, or Star Tours. I would also not recommend Autopia, because (you know) it is such a thrill ride - no, but in all seriousness, you can get pretty jerked around in that ride, and those fumes I doubt are good for your baby.
Note: Please do not take anything I say as fact, because clearly it is not. To start things off, I am not in any way shape or form a Medical Doctor. 2: I am a male. 3: I am only a puny little Kid. Yes, that's right, a Kid. DisneylandKid.

Thank you DisneylandKid. I do appreciate the opinions from both female and males. LOL I am thinking its not a big deal but just want to have ways to reassure the hubby about it. I know the warnings on the big rides so I wouldn't even bother with those at this time. =( I don't like it but rather be safe then sorry.

Berry and Bill : C
NGRATS!
I'm no doctor, but I'd say Pirates should be just fine at 4 months. The drops are fairly smooth, being a water ride. If I was 4 months in, I'd probably still be going on Splash Mtn (but I've never been pregnant so I don't know for sure). How old are the girls? That can play a big part in how much you should go out of your way to do.

Morrigoon thank you! And It is just me and my friend going (both of us 27). She doesn't mind doing the "dark" rides and stuff cause whenever we would just go we would ride everything we could. This time I just can't do certain things. I don't think I would ride Splash at this point. I think the drop would be to much and that kind of stuff comes into play with how it can effect the body. I do wish I could sneak a ride on Thunder thou but know I really can't. =( We have talked about the things we can do. She is fine with the limit of things but we decided to try to find hidden mickeys and do some shows and stuff like that that we don't usually do. We will have plenty of fun no matter what. But I do want to be able to do the Pirates cause its been along time since I went on it.
