On this day in Disney history, 75 years ago, theatergoers got their very first look at Bambi, the timeless coming-of-age story of Bambi and his forest friends.
Released in 1942, Bambi was Disneys first full-length animated film that focused on an animal cast of characters, living in nature. The film introduced not only Bambi, but his several of his beloved forest friends: Thumper the rabbit, Flower the skunk, and Faline, a doe. Bambi would go on to receive three Academy Award nominations, including nods for Best Song (Love is a Song), Best Score and Best Original Music Score.
