Just posted a few minutes ago. Looks like DCA is turning into Disney Comicbook Adventure.

When Spider-Man is going into DCA you can see the tower still covered in tarps.

so if you have not already seen the reports - several reporters were taken on a hard-hat tour of GotGMB and have commented on what they saw. The music soundtrack for the ride has already been posted.

I have a question - I have not been on the ride for like 8 years or so (maybe more?) due to my heart and eye conditions. I forget - is there a way to go through the lobby, and through the library (in the old ToT model) and then leave and not ride the lift? I know - its probably the part you should ride - but I can't but I want to see everything else in person. The lift, no doubt, will be in countless Youtube videos.

Yes, I've had people in our group do that before. I would presume the new version has the same ability.
Please don't ask me how I feel, I feel fine.

I'm pretty sure there is a "chicken" exit that you can use.

Yes there is. Just let the CM sending you to the elevator shaft know and he will walk you out.

Thanks all. It's a bummer to miss the rock music integration, etc, but it's for the best.

My wife has done this several times. When they ask how many in your party to load spots for the elevator, you let them know you won't be going. After they put everybody else in their spots they escort you to a hall or stairs if you are on the lower level. We call it "the walk of shame". My wife even has a TOT t-shirt with Mickey nervously shaking and saying "I think I'll take the stairs".

I was already excited for this ride, but I'm even more excited now since I just saw the new film. 3 more weeks!

I think the party looks cool, but not worth the money. Also, I'm sad that there are no AP previews like when Star Tours was rebooted into 3D. I LOVED that. We rode it over and over during previews to see all of the different options. Was hoping to do the same for Tower, but alas...

Reportedly the CM previews were also nixed. I guess they want cast to pay up as wellness. I can't imagine that's correct but if so it sets an odd precedent. Even Pandora at WDW had CM previews.

We saw the elevators going up and down yesterday 5/7, no passengers.

We saw elevators running April 20-23. (Kids were threatening to climb the fence....) My opinion is the probably will have "AP" runs, but won't be advertised much. Be more like when Ariel's was during Carsland opening. There will be a sign with an arrow. Like the POTC preview in early April. If I were in the park May 23/24, I'd be watching closely.

We will be there May 24-26th. I am bummed we are going to miss it. I was hoping they may open it earlier, maybe some practice runs but when I saw they are charging for a preview even Friday night, I am guessing we wont see it.

I would be keeping an eye open on the 24th for soft openings.....

If they've announced and marketed a "premiere party" for the 26th, is it likely they'll do soft openings? If I had paid $150 for a premiere of something and then it was available earlier to the masses, I wouldn't be pleased.

well, I look at it like this. Soft openings are bound top happen because they need to conduct tests, with humans, in the cars prior to sign-off that the ride is ready to go (i don't have this as fact but any engineering-related vehicle operation requires this). However, what they won't do is have "official" previews for groups with set times and availability (subject to closure). This is because they have the premier party. And remember, you're not necessarily paying to just get access to the ride. Its exclusive access to the ride over several hours with a limited number of people, plus entertainment, plus photo ops, plus food, plus a gift. So to Disney - the "value" of what you get is far broader than just getting an early access ride.

A soft opening is used to test queueing. I will be at the party, and wouldn't care if they do it. It isn't usually open to the masses. You have to be ready to hit the ride quickly because sometimes they may only run a few runs. It isn't like it will be open for 6 hours. And you won't know. And, even if you are at the premiere party, on the 25th is the media party, so we won't be "the first".

I don't remember for sure, but I don't think there were soft openings for Radiator Springs Racers before the preview day(s)...I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case for Tower of Tacky too. (Sorry, it may be a great movie and a great ride, but that building is ugly.)

Is the new Tower lit up at night yet? I keep seeing the commercials on TV and they show the ride at night. Wondering if that is just CGI or generally produced for TV effects or if it's lit up at night already. Because I do agree with Blacksheep that during the day it probably looks gaudy but at night, all lit up, I am betting it will look really cool.

I have seen pictures of it lit up at night. I also saw a picture, recently, with the wall down and it looks good with a whole building picture during the day.

Haven't seen any pics of it at night, but LOVE the look of the tower!
