If you haven't already blown your bonus/ Christmas gifts / estimated 2016 tax return on 2017 runDisney race registration, just a quick reminder that early AP/DVC registration for the 2017 Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend opens this Thursday January 26th @ 9:00 a.m. Pacific / 12:00 p.m. Eastern. This is the final 2017 race to come up for registration with the exception of the Virtual Races (which open 4/11/2017). Ouch...

Just a quick reminder that early AP/DVC registration for the 2017 Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend opens TOMORROW Thursday January 26th @ 9:00 a.m. Pacific / 12:00 p.m. Eastern!

Will be interesting to see if it trends as DLand and Wine & Dine did without selling out early allotments.

I am hoping it will do as the others with registration once its open to all. I can't swing doing that registration for us right now and would need to wait. So its a skip it this year because we just bought a house and moved or hope its still open for awhile and same with Star Wars since its the ones my son likes. Not happy about them changing the dates like this at all.

A crowded day at Disneyland beats a busy day of housework!!

According to my princess, its not Star Wars land its "You stole my goats away from me!!......in progress land"

He got a promotion! The 5K in 2015 was themed to Thor.

I'm still bummed that we're never going to see Mr. Stark on a medal.

I'm a little surprised the Guardians didn't get the race instead of Thor, given the opening of the new Tower of Terror. Maybe they're waiting until Infinity Wars to include them.

Signed up for the 10k. I enjoyed running the half last year, but I have a conference right after the run this year, and I honestly enjoy the 10k distance more. I think I'm going to try doing some more of my local area half marathons (that are also cheaper) before coming back for another Disney half that I've already run...

What's the best way to make sure we get into the race sign ups when they open tomorrow. We are already signed up for races in April at WDW.. Does that help?

-I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way-

The best way to sign up today is to be signed in to your Active.com account. When you open registration on runDisney, it should auto-populate your information which speeds along the process. Otherwise, there is no benefit for being signed up to other runDisney races (except you may get the cool 10th anniversary C2C medal...).

Hit the 5k / 10k first before the half or challenges: those are usually the first to sell out.

... well I actually signed up for the 5K... will sign up for the Challenge...eventually...if 2016's registration is any indication, I may sign up at when they start offering (albeit meager) discounts.

Was kinda hoping for (but not expecting) a decrease in fees this time around. These consistently high price points definitely turning people away, thereby driving interest lower and lower each year.

It also doesn't help that they lump so many of these together for when they go on sale. More so when people just got down either doing both the 2 weekends this month or even just 1 of the weekends. Oh and its all after a month that we had big holidays. I'd like to sign us up again but between buying a house and moving this month and doing the Star Wars weekend its just to soon. I still have Tink to deal with in May...which then that goes on sale the month after it happens. They need to rethink this change in registration dates because its just set up so badly. If its still open in another month or 2 we will probably sign up then.

I agree -- they keep making you sign up earlier and earlier; it's getting ridiculous! I'd like to sign up for maybe the 10k, but we just had Christmas, we plan on buying a house this year, and we plan on going overseas later in the year -- just don't want to tie up all my money in the beginning of the year with races. It'd be different if they spaced them out a little more. Maybe I'll sign up in a month or two if registration is open. If not, I'm not going to be devestated.

I'm going to object to this characterization. They're not "making" anyone do anything. They are providing the opportunity to those who choose to take advantage of locking in registration early. By all means, if it doesn't fit your schedule to register now, then don't do it. Stick to your own schedule.

I registered for 2017 Super Heroes last November, and I'm already registered for the 2018 Star Wars races in Disneyland, thanks to early registration for past participants. I know those are races I'm interested in keeping, and I appreciate the chance to register for them early.

On the other hand, while I'm vaguely interested in the September Disneyland 10K and half marathon, I haven't registered for those yet to see if they release more information about the theme. If they end up being a theme I really like but the races sell out before I have a chance to register, oh well.

2017 Super Heroes Half Marathon Weekend

DH and I just signed up for the 10K today. On a whim we decided to try to get Paradise Pier or DL hotel on DVC points (I know, not a great value, but we have extra and the difference in what we could make by renting them was not enough (for us) to make it worth the trouble. And there's the advantage of not having a cash outlay).

DL hotel had availability. Woot! So we registered. We did this race in 2015. DH has lost about 65lbs and I've lost about 40. So I'm interested to see how that plays into our finishes. I'm also looking forward to being right there vs across the street. It'll be interesting to see if we feel the proximity is "worth it."

Why do people go on The Amazing Race without bothering to learn how to drive a stick shift?

Wow, congrats on the success! I think you'll love staying at the DL Hotel. I've stayed at both Good Neighbor hotels, as well as the DL Hotel for RunDisney weekends, and I now insist on the DL Hotel when we run. You're 5 minutes from the start, and are back to your room 15 minutes after you've crossed the finish line. It's glorious.

Warning- if you are planning on staying in a hotel and haven't booked yet, do so now! The reasonably priced ones/reasonably decent to stay at ones are already mostly full.

We decided to skip it this year. Son is a little disappointed as he likes the Thor medal but we have had to much happening this year.
