Has anyone seen Bridget Jone's Diary? v.v. funny movie
Plus two cutie pie guys
Make your husbands go too--I did and he actually enjoyed it.
P.S. The British seem to use the "F" word like Americans use the word "Hello." Just be forewarned..........

Lani and I will be seeing it tonight, I'll come back with the male perspective for you.
You don't even want to know which word the Irish use like we use "hello". All I'll say is that after reading Roddy Doyle I have to be very careful with my vocabulary.
Thematically, I felt Bridget Jone's Diary was the 30-something version of Never Been Kissed.
Never Been Kissed, starring Drew Barrymore, was about someone finally gaining acceptance and love in their early-mid 20's.
Bridget Jone's Diary was about someone finally gaining acceptance and love in their early-mid 30's.
Yeah, different plot and circumstances fitting someone at that point in life.
But..
Same meaning.
My only gripe - I felt it could have been more tightly editted as a film. Some portions went on just a bit too long. Other portions could have been longer.

Hi Karl
Didn't you know that that's the point of all chick movies!! It's what we all want--love and acceptance, no matter how cool or feminist we appear
Anyhow, the plot of Bridget was loosely (loosely) based on Pride and Prejudice--one of my all time fave books.
I do agree that the editing could have been better, but I felt they took the book which, in my opinion was not well written, and shaped it up into a better movie.
And how many book to movie movies can you say that about?!
P.S. I liked the Drew Barrymore flick too
I liked the movie. I also thought that Renee Zelleweger looked really sweet with the added weight. It was nice to see a "normal-looking" person instead of the anorexic types we see in many movies. She didn't seem overweight to me -- kind of shows you how weight-obsessed parts of our society has become.

So true Lani
And I don't think women are the only ones who feel that way. My husband made a comment that she looked good in the movie i.e. "normal."
But let's face it, twenty extra pounds on Renee is chump change for some of us "normal" women who don't start out at 98lbs. !! *sigh* But hey, if it's good enough for Hugh and Colin, it should do for the rest of the male population--
You know, I have never heard guys griping about how unnaturally thin Benjamin Bratt or Pierce Brosnan are.
rob -- have you had a chance to see this film yet? the added weight is part of the plot, and Renee Zellwegger went through a pretty stringent nutrition program with a dietician to gain the 20 pounds sensibly, so she could appear more like the character in the book.

Rob--that's because smart guys know a woman likes a man who has thicker wrists than they do.
