Disneyland files for permit for "Tahitian Terrace"

We don't know what it means, but it's fun to speculate: Disneyland has filed a for a permit with the Anaheim fire department that reads simply, "Open flames and torches 'Tahitian Terrace'."

Are there plans to reopen the Tahitian Terrace in the current Aladdin's Oasis space? Let the wild speculation begin!

I turned to my DH right after the Moana part of the Animation Presentation at the D23 Expo and said if this doesn't get the Tahitian Terrace reopened, nothing will...

A reopening sort of makes sense with the impending closure of the Big Thunder BBQ.

    Say the secret word.

They should put a restaurant there. I'm assuming that's a table service not a counter service local?
Wonder what will become of Aladdin, Genie, and Jasmine then...

Remind me what the Tahitian Terrace was? Restaurant? I vaguely remember a comedy-type Aladdin show in the Oasis, but I can't remember what else used to be in there...

THAT is probably more of a reason why TT would be "reopened" and "reimagined". Tie it to a film and take advantage of that push.

Tahitian Terrace was a polynesian style luau performed with dancers, fire performers, music, and food in Adventureland starting in 1962 up until late 80s or early 90s (though I think the show aspect stopped in the early 70s. I am not sure). You can probably find info and videos on it at Yesterland, other sites, and Walt Disney's Disneyland covered it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MwQVTlHyiyI

That would be wonderful! I love the more quiet and serene eating areas at DL. Although if they bring back the performers, it wouldn't be very calm

I kind of have a memory of this place when I was a kid. Definitely the fast drumming sounds and the line in the corner.

The last time I was in there with more than a few people was for the skull juju quest. And I was surprised by how small it seemed. I always thought it was so much bigger, when I was 9 or 10. But that being said...

    I second "yes, please!"

The dancers were still there in summer of 79.

This was the first place, and only place, that I ate sea food as a small boy. One of my fondest memories of Disneyland as a child was fried shrimp and the fire performers.

Sounds like a good place to be!

    April Showers and Easter 2024!

Sounds awesome. I've never been to the original to my recollection, but love tiki and Polynesian theming so I'd check it out.

I had just discovered this place and had exactly ONE meal there before they shut down. I'd really love it if they'd make use of this unique space again!

In the 45+ years I've been going to the park, I never went to the TT. More than likely a function of my parents not wanting to do sit down meals...we were always a quick service kinda family.

As a poster above said, with BTR going away they are going to need extra dining capacity. The success of the recent TT event at the Disneyland Hotel and the continuing popularity of Trader Sam's probably makes it clear to Disney that Polynesian themed dining/events are still very popular.

They also need to bring back the flaming volcano sundae. I LOVED those as a kid!

I don't know what your dessert was made of, but Rainforest Caf has a Volcano sundae. When they bring it out they should, "VOLCANO!" while walking through the restaurant.

Not happening in Anaheim. The fire code is too strict. That's why the Rainforest Cafe uses silver ting-ting instead of a sparkler in their Volcano dessert. We went to a place that served dessert with a Roman candle-type thing, and I was startled until I realized we weren't in Anaheim. ;o)

Honestly, I had assumed it was a CA thing. Now I'll need to know where I can go to get a fire fix.

Pioneer Woman posted, yesterday, about taking her daughter to The Ivy (I think) in LA, her daughter's Bday dessert had a roman candle type thing on it.

Is this for their $300 Jungle Cruise Breakfast?

"A wild and once-in-a-lifetime experience is coming to Disneyland park. The Jungle Cruise Sunrise Safari Breakfast will take place on select dates from September 21 to December 2, 2015."

It could be, but the Blog said the breakfast was inside the ride, and the permit says the open flames is for the Tehetian Terrace. So, it doesn't sound like it.

Ah, but if they remove that side of the wall, it would technically be inside the attraction...

However, I have my hopes set on Tahitian Terrace being revived, even though stupid fire codes prevent the flaming sundae.
