    Canoe rental at Fort Wilderness?

    Hi all you Mickey Experts:

I am taking my family to Disney for the first time. We happen to be kayak enthusiasts, and I read that Fort Wilderness has canoe rentals. Has anyone done this? What kind of water/scenery is there? Is there a lot of good exploring, or is it just kayaking on a big lake (boring!!!!) Also, can you rent bicycles anywhere? Thanks, Sharon

    Hi, Sharon,

You can rent a boat or a surrey bike at the marina and boat rental on Bay Lake near Ft. Wilderness. Wouldn't exactly call it kayaking, and it won't be too wild, but it would definitely be fun! Ft. Wilderness seems like it is "out in the wilds," but it isn't, of course. You can rent a canoe or a regular bike at the Bike Barn at Ft. Wilderness. You might also consider doing some of the water sports on the Seven Seas Lagoon, near the Polynesian Resort and the Grand Floridian. Also, there is horse-back riding at Ft. Wilderness, too.

By the way, try the Kali River Rapids ride at the Animal Kingdom - it is kind of like riding the river rapids with a bit of twist. Prepare to get wet!

Hope that helps! Have a magical day!

the canoeing at FW is only in the canals around the campground. it is definatly NOT exciting if you have ever been in a canoe before.

but renting a sailboat, or a watermouse can be fun.

Grateful for all God has done for me, and for having Wfoxx by my side.
