Thread: Transportation from LAX

    Transportation from LAX

Have been using MousePlanet for a long time for information but this is my first time posting.

Trying to decide what our best option is for transportation from LAX to Del Sol Inn. We are a group of 4 adults. We arrive at 11:00AM on friday, July 31 and depart at 8:05PM on tuesday, August 4. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

We have 5 day park hoppers and will spend part of tuesday in the parks. Wondering what time we should be headed to the airport for our flight. We are flying back to Vancouver, BC so will be an international flight. I know we need to consider traffic for heading to the airport and don't want to be late for our flight. Thanks.

Welcome! I'm also from BC (Kelowna), there are a few or us around here

It's been a few years since DH and I flew into LAX but each time we have we travelled to DLR on the Disneyland Express
    http://www.graylineanaheim.com/airport_info.cfm

The pickup is easy, just follow the signs to ground transportation at the airport and soon a bus will pull up and you're off. You do stop at the Disneyland hotel before any other area hotels, you pay here and may need to transfer buses before they drive you to your hotel. If I remember correctly the entire trip from LAX to our hotel took around 45 min to 1 hour.

For return to the airport, you call to arrange pickup and they will tell you what time base on your departure time and terminal. They usually have you leaving your hotel about 3 or 4 hours before your flight. Be aware that the bus that picks you up may not say Disneyland Express on the side as they also do tours to other attractions so be sure to ask the driver and they should have your name on their pickup list.

There are coupons for this and other Aheheim businesses at
    http://anaheimoc.org/coupons

I hope this helps! Have fun!

We always use the DL Express bus. We have pre-paid vouchers though, as we book it through our travel agent here in New Jersey.

Thanks for the info. Have done a bit of research on the internet and trying to find the best option and the best price. Anyone with experiences with the shuttles?

The second star to the right....

Personally, I LOVE the Disneyland Express and would choose that EVERY time if I could. Shuttles can be either good or very bad... and its a roll of the dice every time. They can be cheaper IF you "share" with other riders. My experiences with ride-sharing on SuperShuttle are less than stellar (loud obnoxious, and drowned in perfume "other riders") , in fact I was MOST put out with my hubby when I discovered that was what he arranged for our most recent trip. In THAT case, it was so late, that we did not have to share, and while it cost more overall, it was a much more peaceful trip. It's about an hour to hour and a half drive... so bear that in mind. If your ride-share partner is heading to a "nearish" neighbourhood, it can still take you quite out of the way of the DLR area.

Another thought may be your actual arrival schedule. This Disneyland Express runs on an hourly schedule (maybe 90 mins, not sure) There have been times when we have *just* missed the Disneyland Express, and had a longer wait than we had anticipated. In December it was warmish... in July, it might be a very hot and uncomfortable wait.

    Food for thought!

The shuttle vans have a bad reputation coming out of LAX. I''ve used them for SNA, but not from LAX.
It is 40 miles from LAX to DLR. With LA traffic, and international flight I wouldn't leave any later than 4.
4 Adults, you might look in to a Town car. There have been some good threads in the past about using them. Especially to the airport. From? I would consider to DL express.

May I highly recommend DK's Livery Service? I see that their website is now listed as Lansky Limousine. DK Livery saved our vacation 2 years ago.
We missed our flight out of Orlando because they changed the time and we were not notified. So at 3am California time we emailed DK and a real person called us back and we gave them the new flight info. As we are flying we are told that there was a shooter in LAX and we aren't sure where/if we can land. We try texting to DK and they immediately replied that they were still coming but watching our flight info.
When we landed, we were herded to one door and then, "You're on your own." There were no buses, taxis, nothing. All traffic had been stopped and kept back 1/2 to 3/4 mile. We phone DK and again a person right away. We were given the phone number of our driver---- who was waiting (hiding) with other drivers behind a BurgerKing. It was as close as they could get. This wonderful man talked us over a bridge, down some streets past all kinds of trouble, straight to him. And he was just wonderful. As we left we see people waving cash money to try and pay some drivers to take them instead. So he could have left us and we wouldn't have known. When we get to DLH I wanted to give him an extra tip but he refused. He was so sweet. He said, "Now, right now your vacation begins. Don't think about the rest of this."
    We will always use DK.

That is awesome G&P. Do you know if that is the one Bennette uses? I was trying to remember the name when I responded above.

Thanks Goodnplenty. I will check into DK Livery Service. With four adults wondering if it might be cheaper to choose this option.

It may boil down to convience as well. The DL express goes to the Disney hotel first. Some have to transfer to other buses from there, and then they go to the other hotels. This is also a good option if you want to make a stop to grab water or snacks or breakfast stuff for your room.

Hi candles! Yes, I think it is. I know DK Livery was recommended by someone here on MP. I just can't really remember who.

Also, just a little tip. At first I was put off because the English was a little off in the emails. But let me tell you. This company was/is fantastic. We were given very exact directions on how to walk away from LAX and had absolutely no trouble whatsoever communicating. DK saved the day.

We used DK Livery in April. Our party arrived at different times at different terminals and they explained how to get from one to the other. They were great and I would use them again. There was a little confusion over the store stop, but it all worked out!

Does anyone know if DK Livery's service runs late? I see they are replying to emails at 3am, but I have friends flying into LAX, and I do not believe their flight gets in until after 11:00pm (they chose to leave after work that day instead of first thing in the AM the next day). The hotel we're staying at (Ayer's Inn/ALO) is not serviced by Disneyland Express, but when I called them they stated the latest they would run from LAX was around 8:00pm anyway. We had been considering heading for DLR and catching the Disneyland Express for our trip to the airport (assuming it's allowed) but if this service is really this great and will accommodate their late flight in, we would probably use them both ways.

Kisstheradio, please call DK Livery. Even if I said, "Yes they do." my information could be out of date. I really don't recommend specific companies, etc. But these people really came thru for me.

One more question - private car transport from LAX

Hi Everyone - I need one more piece of advice regarding transportation from LAX.

We have tried the Disneyland Shuttle, Super Shuttle and flying into SNA instead of LAX, but these are not options this time around.

We would like to book a private car/van to pick up 4 adults and 2 kids (we need one car seat).

Any advice on companies to go with or avoid?

    Thank you!

    Anna

There was juat a thread on this in the last month. Scroll down the DL trip planning and you will see it. Some good recommendations in there. Including a reputable car service.

I don't know about the car seat but I enthusiastically recommend Classique Limo for LAX towncar service. Their website is a little low tech but they are great on the phone.

Not the cheapest but we've never looked back!*

Prices include tip but I always confirm when I call. http://www.classiquelimo.com

Please look at the thread called, "Transportation from LAX."
You can read my little story there. I highly, highly, highly, recommend DK Livery. I have noticed that when you look that up it comes under a different name. I think it's "golansky" ??

Booked Lanksy Limousine Services fka: DK's Livery Services for our upcoming trip at the end of July. First time using this type of service for transport between airport and hotel. Will report back after trip.

I have a question about the Disneyland Express. Our flight gets in at 5:00 PM and according to the webpage they run buses hourly until 6:00 PM. Do you think we would have time to get from the terminal, pick up luggage and get to the bus pick up in an hour? We will be a party of two adults and three children.

DH and I will book DK Livery again for our November trip. I would love to hear your report after your trip.

Back from our trip. We were very happy with Lanksy Limousine Services fka: DK's Livery Services. The driver was waiting at the luggage carousel with a sign with our name on it. He loaded our luggage on a cart and escorted us to the parking lot where the vehicle was parked. We had asked for a stop at an In-N-Out Burger. Tried one close to the airport but the line was too long so he took us to another one. Took us through the drive thru and we ordered our food. This was our first time for In-N-Out Burger. We then continued on to the Del Sol Inn across from the Disneyland Resort.

Our pickup for our return trip to LAX was on time and got us there with plenty of time before our flight home. Our driver was very courteous and we enjoyed our experience with this service. Would highly recommend this company.

The really important question is - what did you think of In-'n'-Out?
