Albertson's grocery store nearest to the "World"

    Hi!

Can any of you locals, or seasoned WDW travelers tell me where the nearest Albertson's grocery store to WDW is?

I checked the Albertson's website, and there are several Albertson's in Orlando, and I don't know which is closest.

I e-mailed them over a week ago, and they haven't responded. I guess they aren't too eager for my business...but it's a store I'm familiar with here, and I'd like to shop there on our vacation.

    Thanks!

I don't think that there's any store too close to WDW. You'll probably be better off going to Winn-Dixie or Publix.

The Winn-Dixie on Apopka-Vineland is much closer, and wonderful. I do half of my regular shopping there. The prices are normal, selection is excellent, and the service is good.

For healthier and gourmet choices, you can go up to the Dr. Phillips Road area to Chamberlins and The Fresh Market.

    Thanks Teri,
I've had two votes for Winn-Dixie, so I'll check it out for sure!

Go out Hotel Plaza Boulevard to the intersection with 535. The Crossroads Center will be right in front of you. (Don't go to Gooding's -- very high prices.) Turn left onto 535. Winn-Dixie will be about a mile or so on the right side. (Teri, check me on the distance?)

They have discounts based on a membership card that you can sign up for on the spot. Also, check www.winndixie.com before you leave to check for specials and coupons.

And how about that Publix? where's the closest one? My car service is supposed to stop at one of those for the grocery stop. does anyone know if publix has soymilk?

2nd trip, Feb 2009 Old Key West 7 nights.
First trip, April 2007 Port Orleans Riverside 6 nights.
Been to DL so many times I can't even count.

As I recall, there was supposed to be one under construction on 535 or up that way. However, no sign of it on the publix web site. The closest to WDW may be the one West of World Drive on 192. We went there on this last trip. It wasn't too far, and it was very nice.

If your car service is making a stop for you, it may be further away from WDW in order to have minimal delay from the highway.

As far as the soy milk goes, you'll probably have to contact them and ask. If they don't have it, then I know for a fact that Winn-Dixie does, as well as rice milk.

    Experience is the best teacher.

Actually, I think that you can sign up for the member card online. If you are signed up for Upromise for the kids, Winn-Dixie is a participating store. Register your member card, and you'll get credit for the qualifying purchases. (Kellogg's, etc.) Just remembered that.

    grocery shopping

There's a new Pubix store behind the Premium Outlets. You can get there going just past the outlet (and the new Dolly Parton Dinner show theater) and it'll be on the left. Or you can also get there from International Drive. But the Winn-Dixie on Vineland is closer and new as well.

Mark, half a mile sounds about right. I will check this week. It isn't on yp.yahoo.com yet.

The Publix over here on 192 is set up for tourists, which is good and bad. I do my convenience and late-night shopping there. The people there are very nice. There is also a baby sand crane that hangs out in the parking lot who has become a local celebrity. It is east of the main gate, on S. International Drive between Osceola Parkway and 192. You can see it from 417. Both Publix and Winn-Dixie have soy milk and rice milk.
