Damn. I said I wasn't going to do it. I didn't even look at the site until almost 2:00. Finally looked, the Half was still available, and I caved. I guess in two weeks I may try to go back in and grab the 5K and 10K. Dammit. I have no resistance.

Join the club. I wasn't going to do this one - no anniversary or inaugural. Signed up for both the 10k and half. Sigh...

Woo hoo! It's quite the experience.

So, as of 5:50 p.m. there are still early AP/DVC spots available for the WDW Marathon, WDW Half, Goofy Challenge, and Kids Races. Given the recent slow sell of Avengers (which still has open spots for both the half and 5k), have we started to see 'runDisney fatique'?

I don't know if it's rD fatigue or rD DL fatigue and the lower level of APs at WDW. And there was the whole Goofy Give-Back last year, so some events haven't been speedy for a while.

I think they're approaching their event saturation point, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

I don't know what to do. Anyone have any advice?? I haven't run a full marathon since 1995, I have run 28 Half Marathons with 3 more coming up this year (Tink, Disneyland, Avengers) I really want so badly to do the WDW Marathon. But I want it to be one and done. Here is the question...will I be sorry if I don't try for Goofy?? Did anyone do just the marathon and regret NOT doing Goofy? AND the other way... anyone sign up for Goofy and regret they didn't JUST do the Marathon?? Full disclosure I had some injuries in the last year, and I am just now getting my mileage back up. But I am afraid to wait for the "perfect" time, I'm not getting any younger here.

I have done the marathon, and don't regret doing only the marathon. Given that you are dealing with injuries, you are better off doing the marathon by itself and focusing on making that a fun experience for you. Do you have a goal in mind other than finishing? For Goofy, I focused my training on a time that would allow me to finish both races, but the weather was hot and I ended up being pretty miserable for the latter part of the marathon. If you do the marathon alone, you could focus more on getting a PR or other goal time.

I would say to focus on the full and enjoy it. I think back to my first full and I'm not sure I could have done as well, finished as strong and recovered as quickly if I were doing a half the day before. That being said, you aren't new to running. What is your base mileage each week? If you are at 25-30 now, you could easily do a plan that would get you to Goofy. On the other hand, the marathon is so mental that it may save your sanity to just do it alone.

I did not do Goofy or Dopey and don't regret it at all. I wanted my first (and maybe only, though now I'm considering another) marathon to be only about the marathon and not have to worry about weather and injuries and soreness for two races.

My pet peeve is when people say "just" the marathon or even "just" Goofy. There is nothing "just" about 26.2.

Thanks so much for the advice. I know whatever I decide i will see it through and do my best. I have no records to set, I'm a 11-12 min mile runner, and not looking to best any times, just looking to finish with the least amount of suffering. I have my 12 mile training run tomorrow, getting ready for Tink, so I will have a bunch of time to mull it over and hopefully reach a decision. I appreciate you all sharing your experiences. See you all soon at a start line.

Since I eventually caved and signed up for the Half again during early registration, I figured I'd go back and add the 5K and 10K today. No marathon, though. I want to see how my first goes in October before I sign up for a second. So I'm running three races in January. Yeah, I must be certifiable.

Are we surprised that Dopey's not sold out yet?
