Thread: It's working again!

  1. #1

    Thumbs up It's working again!

Now, I don't know what the official name is for them. But, they are the satelites in TL next to where the Rocket Rods used to be. Well, for the longest time GWS was complaining about how these don't move anymore. I actually had totally forgotten, but he reminded me that they used to play music and move around a few times a day and it looked really nice. But, yet again it had seemed that DL let something else go and now it just sits there collecting dust. But then all of a sudden shorlty after he had complained about it again, the music started and they began to twirl around again!!

    Did anyone else notice this?

That's the Observatron. I love that thing! My kids were totally enchated by it in 2001. I noticed it was not going very often when I was there this July. Good to know it is working again!

I think it does great things for the atmosphere of TL!

    AHHHHHH- memories!!

I agree that it is really great for creating an atmosphere for TL. But we were thinking that the one thing that is missing is a laser light shooting at the final phase of it, when the gadget in the middle opens up. Do you know which part I am talking about?
It seemed to us that something was missing. I laser light at the end would really ad some futuristic drama to it.

That would be COOL! When the last piece of the sculpture opens up like a flower, to have a bright light beaming off into space would be very cool.

I wonder if it points up enough though- wouldn't want to blind people across the park! LOL

Yes, that is the part I am talking about! The Flowery sculpture! A bright blue light would look great just beaming out, wouldn't it? I am sure they could fix it up so nobody gets blinded. LOL!!

I too like the Observatron. I've alwyas wondered how much of it is built out of the old Orbiter?

As far as a laser, don't hold your breath: 1) for a laser to be seen, you need fog or smoke, not an insurmountable issue, but a hamper none-the-less, 2) You can't a laser pointing into the air: major safety issue, 3) you wouldn't really even see a laser if it were pointing straight up.

But other than that, it is a cool idea.

    Yeah, I got nuthin

Well I guess that does make sense about shooting a laser. But it seems like some type of finale is really missing from it when the flowery sculpture opens. Maybe something else would be more feasible?

I taped it in 2001 at night. It was so pretty and sparkling. One of my favorite "atmosphere" items at DL.

Good to hear it is running-

A bright spot light might work as well-

    AHHHHHH- memories!!

I had no idea it was broken. It's been working each time I am in Tomorrowland (which, I admit, is not often). I seriously think that they just forget to turn the darn thing "on" in the morning. I know many of the CMs outside in TL hate the noise of the thing. It is a bit to loud IMO.

That would be cool to add some lighting, but you know what would be cooler?

    Some freaking rides.

Yes, well they need everything right now: Rides and atmosphere. Every little thing counts at this pitiful point.
