New DCL cancellation policy in effect 10/1/14

Disney Cruise Line today implemented a new cancellation and change policy, and it's definitely worth a read if you have or are planning to make a DCL reservation.

I have included the entire change notification sent to travel agents below:

Effective Oct. 1, 2014, several changes are being made to the cruise cancellation fees for Suites and Concierge Staterooms as well for Cruises Less Than 10 days where Embark or Debark is a U.S. Port. Listed below is a review of the new policies:

Suites and Concierge Staterooms for all Sailings:

Suites and Concierge Staterooms will have a separate cancellation fee period that is no longer based on the length of the sailing.
For Suites and Concierge Staterooms for all Sailings
Days Prior to Vacation Commencement Date | Fee Amount
90 days or more | Deposit per Guest
89 to 56 days | 50% of vacation price per Guest
55 to 30 days | 75% of vacation price per Guest
29 days or less | 100% of vacation price per Guest

Cruises Less Than 10 days where Embark or Debark is U.S. Port:

For Cruises Less Than 10 days where Embark or Debark is a U. S. Port, a separate cancellation fee period will now apply for holiday sailings which include Christmas Day, New Year’s Day. Thanksgiving Day or July 4th:
    For STANDARD Sailings
Days prior to Vacation Commencement Date | Fee Amount
74 to 45 days | Deposit per Guest
44 to 30 days | 50% of vacation price per Guest
29 to 15 days | 75% of vacation price per Guest
14 days or less | 100% of vacation price per Guest

For HOLIDAY Sailings - *Holiday Sailings are sailings that include Christmas Day, New Year’s Day. Thanksgiving Day or July 4th
Days prior to Vacation Commencement Date | Fee Amount
89 to 65 days | Deposit per Guest
64 to 43 days | 50% of vacation price per Guest
42 to 15 days | 75% of vacation price per Guest
14 days or less | 100% of vacation price per Guest

There are no changes to the cancellation fee period for non-Concierge staterooms for Cruises of 10 days or More and Cruises Less Than 10 days where Embark and Debark is non-U.S. Port.

For reservations made prior to Oct. 1, 2014, the cancellation fees assessed will be based on the cancellation fees listed on the original confirmation unless the sailing date or vacation package is modified.

As a reminder, Categories with Restrictions are always NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE. A 100% cruise cancellation fee applies from time of payment
Note that, while this is in effect for reservations made after Oct. 1, 2014, these new terms will apply to existing reservations if you make any changes to them, including adding someone to a stateroom. Be sure to discuss your options with your travel agent before making any changes to existing reservations.
