Thread: The Disneyland Story

    The Disneyland Story

I downloaded some YouTube videos when we were in our shopping town last week. One is a 1990 show called "The Disneyland Story" hosted by Harry Anderson. I'm sure some of you have seen it, it's a first for me.

I watched it today and it was kind of fun! I thought it was funny how they incorporated Back to the Future. At the end of the show, they announced coming attractions, such as the soon to be opened Indiana Jones attraction.

The show also mentioned Alien Encounter - did DL end up with that or was it WDW only? Most intriguing for me was the promise of a live Muppets stage show. Did that ever happen?

Alien Encounter was only at WDW, later Stitch's Great Escape.

I suppose when they taped this show, plans were going forward with the Muppets to have more of a presence with Disney. However, Jim Henson died suddenly in May of 1990 from bacterial pneumonia. Although the MuppetVision 3D film opened in Orlando the next year.
Any more projects with Disney fell to the wayside until 2004 when they bought the Jim Henson Company.
