The Scaredy-Cat Thread: Which rides make you nervous?

As I'm afraid of heights I won't go near the Maliboomer, Screamin' or the Sun Wheel - I'd have to be unconscious to go on any of them. In DL, I admit to feeling a tad uneasy on the Matterhorn - for some reason I always feel like the cars are going to come off the track...and I always get butterflies before the drop on Splash Mountain (but in a good way )

I get nervous when I get strapped into the Maliboomer even though it is actually a mild ride.

Unfortunately, none of the rides at DL make me scared in the slightest. The big drop on Splash used to make me nervous, but no longer. I could probably sleep through the other thrill rides. Not that they're boring, but they just don't thrill me.

DCA is a different story. Every time I've been on Mulholland Madness I've screamed like a little girl! It feels like you really are going to fall off the sides! And Maliboomer scares the bejeebees out of me. Every time I strap myself in, I instantly have regrets, and want off. For some reason I think it's a fun ride.

TOT at MGM was similar. Scared to death, but when it's over you want to go again! I'm sure the one at DCA will be the same.

Space Mountain scares the bejeezus out of me. I feel like I'm going to fall out, AND I can't see where I'm going. I wish they had you strapped into a low-riding car like the Matterhorn on that ride - then it would be perfect!

whenever i am on the the moving cars on the sun wheel or orange stinger i always find myself calculating the projectile angle to see if i would land in the water or the concrete if my swing or car snapped and went flying. on maliboomer i always try to figure out if my spinal cord would compress if we were to plummet to the ground without brakes. nothing in DL makes me nervous, except this one time we got stopped on haunted in the room with all the doors. that really creeped me out.

    Okay, I'm a big pansy.

I will NOT go on anything in DCA that's situated in or around Paradise Pier, except the carosel.

I've told you about my inherent fear of the Matterhorn, so that's out of the way.

And I don't mind the HM per se, but if it happens to stop in certain areas, such as the attic, I get nervous.

I agree about feeling like you're going to fall off the sides. I've been on California Screamin' and I really don't like the first part when you start and the drop. I'm fine with the loop though.
And I will not go on the Maliboomer. I really hate drops. That's also why I don't like Splash Mountain.

I'm terrified of hights so I won't go on Maliboomer or The Sun Wheel in DCA. In DL, I'm not afraid of any rides, but I used to be a little scared of Splash Mountain.

Actually, I have a little beef with Splash Mountain...The Zippity Doo Dah scene at the end makes me anxious too. I think it's because my adrenaline thins out, and I realize I'm a bit wet, sitting in a log....and I can't escape from the singing robot animals. AA's tend to drive me nuts, after a while....well, not the Pirates, but for the most part...*shiver*.

When I was younger nothing in Disneyland scared me. Now I am a father and find myself getting nervous about all sorts of things.

Took my 4 year old son on Big Thunder a couple years back and had the scare of my life.

You see my son was just tall enough to go on but still a very scrawny kid. I am not scrawny in the least ( 6'2" and 240 Ibs). I basicaly had to hold him inside the train car.......because his lap bar was a good 8" off his lap. I would really like to see Disney change these restraints to the kind space mt has.

Went on this ride again a year later....made him ride with a little girl his age that he met in line. This time I enjoyed myself

The rides that make me nervous are the one that have been hideously designed, poorly executed, show their budget cuts and have poor color choices or off-model characters - - all as if chosen by a committee of non-artists.

This leaves few in Disneyland, but many more in DCA. My nerve-wracking rides:

    Innoventions
    Gadget's Go-Coaster
    Honey, I Shrunk the Audience
    Winnie-the-Pooh
    NASA Exhibit
    Tarzan Treehouse
    Fantasyland Theatre
    Starcade
    Mulholland Madness
    Jellyfish ride
    Chew-Chew
    Bumper Bugs
    Ladybug Teacups
    Farm Exhibit
    Superstar Limo
    Playhouse Disney
    Golden Dreams

I love Splash Mountain, but I am also terrified of heights.

The Sun Wheel makes me queasy just LOOKING at it . On my last trip, my friend was shocked there was something I wouldn't go on.

In the past, I couldn't stand the Skyway. I was on the verge of "yamming" when on it as a kid. Ugh... I feel yammy thinkig about it now!!

    Not in DL !

Alien Encounter was the one that terrified me... hope that it doesn't come to the DLR

"Since we're getting to be so close," he said in a voice that sent shivers of awareness through her. "I'd better introduce myself. Lashbear." He offered a big, square hand. She took it, lacing his fingers with her own."3894. Or Helen. Your pleasure."

The Tower of Terror ride is hands down the most scared I have ever been on a ride.

Wait a moment, why did I just use the phrase "hands down"? What does that even mean? Whose hands must come down? Must I keep them there? How soon until I can raise them again? How many sentences can I write in a row that end in a question mark? Does anybody want to take a guess? Must everything always be a question with me? Who's on first? I mean the player.

Mulholland Madness is the most terrifying attraction on Earth. I'm a fairly tall person, and when I ride it I feel like I'm going to smash my head against the track, or those ridiculous signs. Being scared of a drop is one thing, but if I didn't duck my head I would probably be suffering from severe brain trauma.

According to Roller Coasters, Flumes and Flying Saucers, the original driver for opening day chickened out so Karl Bacon had to drive. Just a funny little detail in history

I can't say that any ride in the world scares me other than skycoasters, so anything at the DLR isn't exactly a problem... I don't want to go on a swinging Sun Wheel car again though.

At Disneyland.... there isn't anything I won't ride due to fear factor... some I won't ride due to the yammy issues....

However... at DCA... I won't go on the SunWheel. Never have and never intend to even try it.. same with MailBoomer, the MM coaster, actually it's easier to list what I will do at DCA.. Soaring, GRR ...haven't been to the new FFF area yet but other than the 'shows' those two attractions are the only ones I enjoy at DCA. I will ride ToT when it opens, just because I can't "not" try it once....I'm not crazy about the drop on Splash, but we still ride it every trip since it is one of my daughters favs......I have a feeling ToT is going to fall into that catagory as well.

I have to admit that on the Skyway I was always rather glad when we "made it" to the other side.

Also the end of Alice -- on the "leaves" always seemed precarious.

Despite all that, I knew deep down that I had a much bigger chance of getting hurt in the car on the way to and back from the park!

    Here, there, everywhere

I won't ride any of the Maliboomer rides period. Long story there, but being at a park when someone falls off of one of those stomps your desire to ride them.

I don't care for the Sun Wheel but actually rode it for the first time in July, wasn't as bad as I feared.

I get more "scared" of my kids riding than me. When I took my 4 year old on Matterhorn the first time, I swear I almost squeezed the breath out of him! LOL

Oh but whenever I'm on a coaster, I have to check, recheck and recheck again my belt/harness etc..I checked my almost 9 year old's like 15 times whenever we ride Screamin and when we rode RnRc at MGM LOL!

I despise the Sun Wheel!! We went on it becaus emy son asked to. I stayed looking at the floor of the car the whole time. We were in a non-moving one. Never again!!

I am a little scared of heights, but I will do the Maliboomer. I find it's a little easier when there is no line and you just walk right on. That way you don't really have time to think about it and back out!

I'm afraid to ride Maliboomer and Tower of Terror. No way could I ride a moving cage on the Sunwheel..barely made it through one ride in a stationary cage..I freeze up, like a deer in the headlights. Really. I can barely move my head and have to focus on the floor..just taking peeks now and then and wondering how they could get you out if the ride broke down or could you survive the fall if the cage came free and if you survived the fall could you get out before drowning if you landed in the water. I mean, the door must lock to protect riders from poor judgement or accidental bumping, right? Not a happy or magical experience. Still, I'll probably go again next trip just to see if it's any better. Luckily, my truly compassionate sister was with me and didn't rock the cage or try to make me talk. If I'd been with my brothers, nephews or neices..yikes!..don't want to think about it. I was afraid to ride the mountains until I was 30. Too bad for me because I love them now. I hope I can muster the courage for TOT.
