Hopefully if they start young, they will continue to be active into adulthood. That is so very important!

That's the goal. I wish my parents had been more active or at least had encouraged us to be more active as kids. I hope the boys never see running as "punishment." In fact, we had to tell DS7's baseball coach NOT to discipline him with laps because he loves it. The team does something to get in trouble, coach says "go run xx laps" and my kid is the first in line running with an ear to ear grin the whole way. No lie. I admit, it made me happy.

Sure does. I love the OMM has kids shirts now. I'm going to get one for DS7 that says "Don't worry, I'm not in your age group."

Back from WDW yesterday and promptly updated my countdown until I leave for Marathon weekend. 57 days! My training is now as intense as it's ever been. RnR Vegas this weekend, Diva So Cal in three weeks (I already needed 12 miles for Tink or Donald, why not get bling?), Donald, Tink, Glass Slipper. Then….REST for three whole months. I haven't had a rest like that in over two years.

Does anyone know if (or think) that they will be using timing chips for the 5k? I know the runDisney 5ks are not usually timed (with a timing chip), but since it is part of the Dopey Challenge I wondered if it would be handled differently.

It seems like when you are registered for the multi-race events, runDisney is fairly serious about making sure you actually run "all" the events in order to get the medal (that's the impression I got with the Goofy Challenge and the DDD), so I wondered how would they ensure that the Dopey Challengers actually finish the 5k without a timing chip?

I do know that the Dopey Challengers will get 2 bibs; 1 for the 5k and 10k and 1 for the HM and Full. (I'd asked about picking up a bib the morning of the 5k in case we miss the expo if our flight was late).

As runDisney has found, timing chips don't even guarantee that the same person whose name is on the bib actually ran the race. I'm betting a wristband similar to Dumbo that will somehow be marked after each event.

That's right, it was wristbands at the DDD. I couldn't remember, didn't we have to exchange one wristband for another at the finish? Something like that...

If I recall correctly, you got a wristband after you crossed the finish line of the 10K. They knew you were a Dumbo by the racing bib you were wearing. When you finished the half the next day, they removed your wristband and gave you your Dumbo medal. I don't know what they'll do for Dopey but after each one they'll have to give us something. Maybe a wristband swap? I don't know.

Anyone else bothered that RunDisney still has not posted the course maps for the Marathon and Half? We are 6 weeks out and they still have not posted them. How hard is it to take the same course from last year and change the logo to the 2014 and post it since we know the course is the same?

I received my virtual goodie bag email.
Paid off my balance to Disney.

January can not come quick enough!

The question had come up regarding the WDW 5k and if it would be timed now that it's part of the Dopey Challenge. According to the print waiver instructions, it appears that for those doing the Dopey Challenge, it may be. For anyone not in the challenge, it's business as usual and will remain un-timed.

*The B-Tag is only given to marathon, Goofy challenge, half marathon, Dopey challenge, 10k, and Mickey mile runners.

I am such a dork. I had a tech shirt printed tonight to wear during the marathon with Dopey on the front (skipping) and the saying "When Goofy isn't Dopey enough...". On the back I had printed:
    4 days
    4 parks
    6 medals
    48.6 miles
    Now that's Dopey!

It's too bad these virtual gift bags are good for almost nothing. I long for those days when you got a REAL bag with sample goodies in it.

For what it's worth, probably the best thing out of the virtual gift bag is the printable list of Downtown Disney locations offering special deals during the cooldown party on Sunday evening. The best deal is 50% off DisneyQuest. Quite a few 20% off deals as well.

The Official Race Weekend program is up!

And as we suspected, Dopey participants collect and trade in wristbands after each event.
