    Thumbs up Animal Cops/Precinct

    Anyone else watch these shows?

Months ago when they first came out, I was all ready to ignore them, like I do most Animal Planet shows. Another lame attempt by Animal Planet to create their version of a show that was popular 3 years ago.

But then I just caught myself watching it all the time! It's a really good show. They've done two or three things very well. They focus on the cases in which the Human Societies really do help, and they show a lot of happy endings, which keeps the viewers from getting depressed. But more importantly, they found REALLY interesting people to follow. Every one of the "stars" has the same certain attitude and quality. It's hard to describe, but it's basically that righteous indignation. They are all very intelligent people, and very committed. They've got a lot of anger, but it's well directed anger. They use their anger and indignation to do the most important thing, help the animals. You can totally tell that first and formost on their mind is to get the animals the help. THEN they start thinking about punishment for the owners. Certainly they want the owners to pay for what they do, but that's always secondary to the animals' safety.

And, of course, there's the abundance of adorable animals that are clearly so happy to be fed and paid attention to. You can't say no to that!

I love these shows, and try to catch them nightly. I think it helps to put reality into a perspective that people can see before their eyes, to help them realize these things actually happen. I also LOVE to see them catch the culprits and bring 'em to justice!

I have mixed feelings about that show. I really admire the rescuer's willingness to get right in there and take care of business. They kick butt. But I pretty much end up crying and depressed, because I know it's just a fraction of the abuse that goes on unnoticed. Then I go clean the rabbit cage .

HOW long has GD been on the boards? You'd think he'd know where to post thread topics by now.

Back on topic -- I love these shows. I like Animal Precinct better, but I think I just don't find the Animal Cops Detroit folks that interesting; I like the other Animal Cops crews better. But I think GD has it pegged, especially for Animal Precinct. Those people sure are watchable. They've got a lot of different personality looks and types and I just enjoy they way they conduct business.

I LOVE these shows! I do agree the Detriot one, does not seem as good as the other areas...It just seems like they don't have much of a personality like the other cities.

I have to say that I really like the Houston ones! I think that is because it deals with more animals, than just dogs, cats, and an occasional rooster!

I love the fact that the they generally always have happy endings. However, it was sad last night when they were dealing with pitbulls that the kids were fighting. I was surprised at how quick they were, to put the dogs to sleep, but you could tell that it was just eating the workers all up.
