    Birthdays at DLR

I will be taking my son to both DL and DCA for his birthday next week. I know that we can get birthday stickers at both parks. I've heard that the birthday boy/girl can get some neat free stuff when they tell certain CMs it's their birthday. Can anyone let me in on the secret birthday giveaways at the parks?

There isn't a secret handshake or anything, but as long as your children are wearing their birthday stickers, CMs will tell them "happy birthday" by name. You MIGHT get a freebie like a free dessert at dinner, but it seems to be completely at the discretion of the CMs.

My suggestion is that you don't go in EXPECTING to be given anything but a great day. Have your son walk in with a big smile, tell them it's his special day. Make a point to buy him an autograph book, and visit with characters so you can take photos of him. The characters may be more willing to send the extra moment to pose for a birthday picture and so on.

Other than that, if you want to spend the extra money, the Plaza Inn has a special thing called "My Disneyland Birthday," which for $10 per person, you can enjoy a small birthday party with cake, signing, and a visit from Mickey and Minnie. It's a pretty cute little shindig they have put together there.

A suggestion..... have dinner at Ariel's Grotto (DCA). Let the server know it's your child's b-day. They will sing and bring out a little dessert w/a candle. I'm not sure if there is an extra charge for this though. We saw about 3 during our dinner there last week.
