This is such a nice article! I have a daughter who loves Dumbo. Two years ago, on a trip to Disneyland, we saw a couple of teenagers holding a stuffed Dumbo that we hadn't seen in the stores. We asked them about it, and they told us that you had to win that Dumbo by playing a game on the Boardwalk at California Adventure. My daughter was 7 at the time, and the news made her nervous that we wouldn't be able to win the game and "ransom" this elephant friend for her. As the teenagers were walking away, they overheard me trying to reassure my daughter that we would get one somehow. They quickly came back and simply gave her the one they were carrying! I tried to pay them for it, but they would not accept anything in return. Talk about well-behaving young adults!! My daughter carried that Dumbo with her everywhere during the last 2 days of our stay, and it still sits on her bed. I credit both those teenagers themselves and their parents for instilling such kindness toward some of the littlest park guests. Disney magic can come from all ages! Thanks for some tips on how to spread it.
Hi DannyeF-
What a great story! Too often we depend on Disney for all of the magic when each of us has the power to make a difference, as your story illustrates so well. Thanks for writing in and welcome to MousePlanet!
