Last summer DL opened right at 8:00 when we were there (week of July 4th). We got there before 7:30 thinking that they would open Main Street earlier. DCA opened a few rides at 9:30 rather than the 10:00 stated time.
Can anyone who has been recently tell me what they have been doing? We will be there the week of 8/10. I don't want to wait outside DL for almost an hour if we don't need too!
The general rule on rope drops is this: If Disneyland opens later than 8am, Main Street will be open 30 mins. before the posted opening time, with a rope drop at the actual opening time. If Disneyland opens at 8am, don't count on a rope drop.
As for DCA, they usually open Sunshine Plaza and Condor Flats 30 mins. early, with Soarin' frequently open (and empty) during that time. I'm not sure how they decide what days rope drops happen at DCA, though
