New offer for DVC members: $300 off WDW Premium Annual Pass

The DVC member website was updated with several new offers, including $300 off a Walt Disney World Premium AP:

From October 1 through December 31, 2012, Members will be able to purchase a Walt Disney World Premium Annual Pass for just $399 (that's a savings of $300 off the regular price!)*. Premium Annual Passholders enjoy unlimited admission to four Theme Parks, a year's worth of unlimited access to Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Parks, DisneyQuest Indoor Interactive Theme Park, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex, Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course (greens fees only) and more!

    Insider's Tip
: A Premium Annual Pass certificate is not activated as a ticket until it is used the first time. So, if you've already purchased an Annual Pass, you can still take advantage of this offer by purchasing it now (between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012), but waiting to activate it until after your current pass has expired. Passes purchased on this offer must be redeemed by December 31, 2013.

And, of course, there's fine print:
*Passes are non-transferable and non-refundable, are only valid during regularly scheduled operating hours and exclude activities/events priced separately. No additional discounts apply. Passes do not include admission to theme park activities/events that are separately priced. Each of the water parks is refurbished annually. These routine maintenance periods are often staggered, enabling our Guests to enjoy at least one water park experience year-round. Water parks are also subject to weather closure. Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course tee times are required and subject to availability. ESPN Wide World of Sports days of operation depend on event schedule.
This is a great deal for WDW passholders, especially since you can pre-purchase your renewal at this rate if your pass isn't due to expire before the end of the year.

Are these vouchers personalized to the purchaser, or can DVC members buy them for others?

    This might help, from DVCMember.com:

Who is eligible to receive the Annual Pass discount?
Disney Vacation Club Members receive a discount on the Pass for themselves and their immediate family residing in the same household only. At the time of purchase or redemption, your Disney Vacation Club Member ID Card must be provided and ALL ADULTS must present a valid driver's license or state identification card showing they reside in the same household.

Who is defined as "immediate family"?
"Immediate family" is defined by Walt Disney World Resort for discount purposes as noted below: Spouse/Registered Domestic Partner, Parent/Step Parent, Mother-In-Law/Father-In-Law, Child/Step Child, Brother/Stepbrother, Sister/Stepsister, Brother-In-Law/Sister-In-Law, Grandparent, and Grandchild.

Can I use my discount to buy a Pass for someone other than myself or immediate family residing in the same household?
No. This discount is exclusive for Members and may not be transferred. This perk may be revoked in the event of abuse.
Personally, this perk rocks... but would rock even better if I was not holding an AP that will be good through my next trip in 2013.... as I was not going to purchase another one till my next trip in 2014.

Okay, I know that it is a different client base, but SO JEALOUS that these are only WDW perks. The discount for Disneyland is still the same whopping $20 per year that it has been since passes cost about 1/2 as much as they do now.

Yes, I know this is substantially the same complaint that people from Northern California/Arizona have annually about the So. Cal Specials.

Yes, I am now contemplating whether I am going to take a trip to WDW in 2013 & 2014 to take advantage of this offer as going just once in 2013 would still make limited tickets/the Premiere pass a better value.

Per the regular rules on pass purchases, there is a limit of 8 per household, even if you can prove that more people that than reside at the same residence.

One other tidbit of info .. the DVC AP's also have the person's name printed on them already.

I am pretty sure (iirc) that Disneyland's (non-DVC) now have names printed on the vouchers if bought online as well. I bought mine just before our trip in December, I do remember entering my name on the voucher.

I'm so stoked about this for two reasons.
1- DH and I had WDW AP's but they expired May 1 and we haven't renewed or purchased our tickets for our Christmas trip this year.
2- I'm planning on going to WDW in 2013 for F&W and to run W&D. Hello!
Too bad it wouldn't work for 2014, I plan on making three trips east that year.

Well, think of it this way, you can still buy them now and use them for your 2013 and 2014 trips. (It just says you must activate them before the end of 2013, not that they expire at the end of 2013.) Just pay out of pocket for your Christmas trip this year.

Play with the numbers and see what works out to be the best bang for the buck.

This is an awesome perk. We were set to renew our regular annual passes in Dec for next year at the DVR renewal rate of $385 per person. This is a much better deal which allows us to include water parks and DisneyQuest on our next trip that we were going to leave out for only $14 more per person.

Thanks. I'll play with it. I could activate them when I went to W&D next year and then I'd be covered for all of my 2014 trips, I think. Great idea! See, that's why I love this place.

If the limit is 8, I wonder is you could buy 2 sets? One for this year and one to activate at food and wine as a renewal type thing?

Hmmm? Perhaps. But, I think just doing what GusMan suggested would be best for me. I'm going this December for five or six park days and then not again until W&D next year. But, after that I won't be back before 12/31/13 to activate the next go round of passes.

Well there you go. I was going to add that not that you have oodles of money hanging about to do that with, having bought a new house, just figured I'd throw it out there.

Yes, and the unexpected tuition addition.
