Big chicken ... [Halloween Horror Nights]

........ buys tickets to Halloween Horror Nights @ Universal!

    Bwerk-bwerk-bwerk!

(I am terrified - only got tickets because one of the houses is Alice Cooper's and this is DH's favourite singer!)

Oh, you're much less of a chicken than I am. NO WAY would I plan on going to that no matter WHAT part of it was themed like.

My sister and I 'accidentally' went into a Mummy themed attraction at Universal Studios in California, not realizing that it ended with a dark crazy maze(?) with people to jump out at you and scare the heck out of you. THANKFULLY my flight or fight instict is heavily weighed towards flight. I couldn't get out of there fast enough -- and now over 15 years later, my heart isn't quite racing thinking about it, but I am tensing and getting anxious at the memory!

I was going to say be very aware of Universal's use of live actors in all of their scary bits. Even the year round House of Horrors in Hollywood contains live actors.

Yes but it is easier knowing they are moving, they will not touch you, but will startle you on purpose. You also get removed if you touch them. It is in the warnings. Some younger teenagers (think 14, 15) had decided it would be funny to take the elderly abuela (grandmother) into the House of Horrors in Hollywood (A and I were sitting at the exit waiting for our family), as they exited abuela launches into a spate of Spanish and started smacking the boy. It didn't take mad translation skills to know what she was yelling at them. I disdlike horror movies and will only go in occasionally. I have to watch A, don'tcha know.

Well I suppose if they don't actually prod me to scare me, that maybe won't be so bad? Who am I trying to convince here .......

(You need to shout a bit louder, it is hard to hear when you are under a table with a duvet stuffed over your head!)

Not trying to scare you more, Silvercat -- just trying to make sure you're fully informed. Something like this would be a LOT worse if you didn't know what to expect!

*sniffle* thank you for caring. Seriously, I do appreciate the warnings, and I'm sure it will be fine - can I just check on this : they're not allowed to actually scare me to DEATH are they??

I've done Halloween Horror nights at Universal Orlando once. And never again. My 14 yo son had been dying to go for years, we did MNSSSHP on friday night with the whole family and 14yo and I did horror nights on saturday while DH and 10 yo took the night off.

Well Mr. Big SHot teenager was so scared that he clung to my hand the entire night. Didn't let go once. I don't scare easily, love horror movies and I had the crap scared out of me more than once. It's super intense. That said, it's very very well done, and the potential for lots of fun, my advice is to take a taxi there and enjoy the many adult beverages offered!!

    HTH!!

I was the headless horseman back in '91 at Knott's Berry Farm (I was a stagecoach driver there). All I had to do was ride the horse around the stagecoach area. But I am the world's biggest wuss and had to have an escort when I would take my lunch break. Walking through Knott's Scary Farm had me terrified! The scare actors would jump out at me and that's the reason for the escort. To prevent them from doing it and having someone to hang on to to get me there and back again. While I LOVED being on horseback, the five min walk through the farm was not worth it. Universal Studios... Oh H no!!!!!!!!!
