I'm VERY happy that they have reduced the number of beach balls. I never really liked them anyway. This gives more room on the play floor.

Also, you really do need to LEAN in the direction that you want to travel. You can really get moving fast if you do it right.

And truth be told, it is a lot easier to move and fly around if you are riding by yourself.

Update to the beach balls: as of today, they have been removed entirely from the ride. The official word from CMs is that the balls are "on vacation," but unlikely to return.

I'm walking in the 2012 Disneyland Half Marathon in honor of two incredible Lymphoma survivors in my life: Gramma Jan and my friend Michele. If blood cancers have touched your life, please consider a donation to my walk fund to help fund better cures.

    Well, that's fine by me.

I did realize that in a way, they added to the whole "festival" theme, but I still thought they were a bit intrusive. I'm looking forward to riding without riders being constantly distracted by the balls and getting in "traffic jams".

Some people may be disappointed by this news, but in the long-run, I think its for the best. Thanks for the update!

Maybe you, but as someone who hasn't gotten to see the Main Street Electrical Parade in many, many years, I hope it sticks around at the Magic Kingdom for a little bit longer. My last trip to WDW was before the MSEP returned to the East Coast, and my first-ever trip to Disneyland was after the move so I missed it there, too.

I'm also glad to see the beach balls gone. They seemed right from the beginning to be a strange solution to the problem of some folks not being able to maneuver their vehicle. I can just hear the mid level management folks - "Hey, if they can't figure out how to make their saucers move, we'll give 'em something else to pay attention to. Hey, how about BEACH BALLS?" Just a bad solution that needed to go away. I rode exactly once, about 3 weeks ago, and never even thought about touching a beach ball. My concentration was all about learning to control my saucer, which I think I did very well. I really had that puppy MOVING, and the beach balls didn't enter into the fun I had on the ride.

I keep hearing weekly the updates being done at DL to house the returning electrical parade. I hesitate to post them though as I do not want to get anybody in trouble.
