    Matterhorn height requirement?!?

I measured my four year old today--without shoes, she is a millimeter shy of 40 inches!! Woot woot woot! She will be good with her Keens!

I went to check the rides that a 40 incher can enjoy---pretty much all of them. Except the Matterhorn!?! What? She has been on that before! She loved it. Why-oh-why have they changed it from 35 (36?) to 42?! I don't understand how she can go on Space and Splash mountain, but not the Matterhorn?

My 4-year old is 42 inches and let me tell you - the new seats are scary for a mom! The backs of each seatback are so high that I had NO visual contact with her throughout the ride. All of the other 40" rides let you sit next to someone, hold the other person's hand or as on Splash Mountain, scoot forward and be close to them. Even the roller coaster with a loop lets you sit next to someone and maintain visual contact with people ahead of you. And that one is a higher height requirement.

If my daughter hadn't already been on the ride - I would probably wait until she was much older and I knew she could handle it. I understand for those who knew & loved the ride before the vehicle change will be upset until they grow a little bit more but now that I've been on the new vehicles I totally understand the height change.

Why they chose to make the vehicles that way, is clearly a different question and one that I am not qualified to answer.

Thanks for the mom input! I hadn't considered a seat change! India is a wee little thing, and I always squish up next to/behind her on all the rides. Knowing this makes me feel much better. At least she can have Space Mountain as a consolation!

Merih, we have new sleds that eliminated the "cuddle" seats. Therefore you are no longer holding onto her. Try this thread for more info.
