Adding to ticket confusion and FASTPASS

Well, for this trip in 8 weeks we are staying off property. My Mom has a timeshare, so we are using that week at a place just south of DAK. The trade will cost us $300, but not bad for being right there near WDW. We are thinking instead of getting the usual 4 day passes to go for 6-days instead, as it's not much more. So when my Mom talked to the lady at the resort about reservations, she told her we could buy tickets there at a discount for around $330 if I recall. No surprise there. I can get them at the travel agency on a govt base we work at for $328.

However, the confusing part is that she told my Mom they have tickets for an additional $7 (or thereabouts) that were good for an instant FASTPASS every two hours. Well, as far as I know, a regular ticket will get you a FP every two hours already, just not instant. Sounds like a scam or she just doesn't understand the system. Anyone heard of this before? I know there have been WDW Resort FP specials and other things, and seen people in the parks that appeared to just go up and flash their ticket at an attraction without a machine-printed FP, but any ideas on this?

I am confident she is wrong or it is a scam.

    Someone is confused.
Regardless of when you get a FP, you can get another FP either at the start of the FP window for the attraction for which you have the FP or two hours later, whichever is sooner.

As for the tickets, make sure you get a quoted price including any taxes or fees, then compare. Personally, I would get them from Disney directly or via undercovertourist.com. They are usually going to be your best bet.

The search function is like the Force. It may take practice, but the more you use it, the more control you will have over it!

NO! SCAM......Something smells fishy! But why in the world would they try this, knowing that people are going to come back screaming that it was a fake....I'm interested to know that.

Working hard for that next WDW trip! December 2013

The only thing that I could think of is that it's related to the fastpass plus system (or whatever it's called) that hasn't been rolled out yet.
But what they told you doesn't mesh with what I know of that system (which is fairly limited).
You could always ask to see the paperwork/info on the extra cost to see what it really says.

    Nick,
If the timeshare just south of Animal Kingdom is Westgate then be a bit wary. I have been an owner there for many years, and I can tell you that they use very aggressive sales practices. The property is very nice, and the condos are very spacious, but be careful because they will do everything they can to sell you a week. They will tell you a week is now worth $36,000 but they will let you have it for a steal at just $21,000. In fact they are worthless. I've been trying to sell mine for years and have never had as much as an e-mail or phone call from anyone. However, with that said, just avoid the salesmen and you will enjoy your stay there. Be aware that avoiding the salesmen includes the check in process where they will tell you that you can get tickets to Medieval Times for $20. I'd advise you to just say no.

In the event that you are not staying at a Westgate property, please disregard this, and I will now return you to your regularly scheduled discussion!

I work at WDW in Ticketing and Guest Relations.

First of all, there is no ticket that allows a FP every two hours. Disney does allow an "Express FastPass" only through Disney Vacation Club Sales, which is valid for a small number of "immediate FPs" at one park for one day only.

And Disney prices are officially posted as without the 6.5% Sales Tax. There are several authorized resellers who do sell discounted tickets; some of them include taxes in their prices.

If you are purchasing tickets at a timeshare, if they are not a voucher which may be exchanged at a gate, be sure to get a detailed receipt of what they are selling to you. And if the tickets they are selling uses the phrase "Touch of Magic" be aware that these tickets cannot be modified or upgraded in any way.

But I live less than 20 miles from Walt Disney World! And work there part-time.

Yeah, I think maybe I should call them myself and talk to them about it. My brother was there again this weekend and noticed nothing unusual.

It is Westgate. My Mom owns a week at a place in Park City, UT, but is trading for the week by WDW. So we will make sure to avoid the hard sell presentations! Thanks.

Thank you for the information! WDW is such a popular destination, there are bound to be frauds and such everywhere. The tickets I think we will be getting are form a travel agency on a military base, so I am not at all worried about them being screwy.

If it meant smaller crowds, I would be in favor of them raising ticket prices even more! But I doubt it would affect attendance at all.
