    Beach Club room request

I have booked a standard view at the Beach Club and am going to call with a room request tomorrow. My requests are a full balcony and a full day bed. Does anyone know if that is even possible with a standard view? I've never had a room request met before but I'm keen for the full day bed. Party of 4 but the children not at all keen to share!

Scooby if when you get there they have you in a room without a day bed ask nicely agian. I have found that the CM's have been more then willing to meet request not meet with orginal room assigment if they have a room avalible. The worst they can do is say no.

^ I agree. Also, remember that the front desk CMs are looking through databases and have the ability to search the available room inventory in various ways.

I have learned that timing is everything when asking at the front desk. I have found it helpful if - as soon as the essentials are taken care of (you know, reservation number, ID, credit card) - and not before - you pleasantly say something along the lines of "we were hoping for a room with a day bed - the children don't like to share." Then when the CM looks up the room inventory (and hopefully finds you a room with a day bed) ask if it has a full balcony.

I use this technique at another Disney Resort - saying at the appropriate - but early - time that I am "hoping for a room in Building 9, facing the parking lot". The last time I made this request, there were 2 CM's behind the counter - one "earning her ears" and the other one training her. The CM trainer then showed the CM "earning her ears" how to search the room inventory for "Building 9, facing the parking lot" and I got exactly the room I wanted.

The thing is to be prepared with the phrasing of your request; keep your request very general; and ask for your most important request first.

One thing to note... you should have your room requests in your reservation. I know that people say that calling the resort helps, but there are some mixed feedback on such. This is especially the case since in most cases, you are not going to be talking to the resort itself, but a call center at Disney that fields all the calls first. We have been told personally in the past by the resorts, that requests via phone is really not the way to go since they may not be passed long properly.

    So... your mileage may vary.

Going along with what Barberella said above, verifying the request and explaining your needs upon check in usually yields good results unless there is just no way to accommodate the request. In the vast majority of our experiences, as long as the requests are not super-specific or out of the ordinary, they do what they can to accommodate.

Thanks all. I booked on line so there was no opportunity to put the room request in the reservation because the only choices are the room 'type'. I don't use a TA. No Disney specialist in the UK and they don't know anything other than the basics

And that's about as specific as you can get at this point, because the real negotiation for a room begins at check-in when the front desk CM gives you a room out of the available inventory. As GusMan notes:

You can do online check-in and make your requests. You can also call Disney directly and add them over the phone even though you booked online. Are you on the secrets boards?

No never heard of them. I called Disney and made my request. Just asked for a day bed. Bit odd. They took my name and reservation dates and hotel name but not my booking ref number.

Scooby, going off of your last post, I would surely make sure you talk to a CM upon check in to see about your request.

Who did you call specifically? Did you call the same number that you used to make your reservation or did you try to call the hotel directly?

On-line check-in usually provides only for the most basic of requests (example: view or floor) and not for such things as a day bed room or balcony (which are the requests that the OP wants). Your room is assigned and a packet made up before you get to the resort.

If on-line check-in does not specifically allow you to request the room features you want, it is best to forgo it and check-in in person.

This is why GusMan very wisely notes above:

Im assuming by that you are talking about a number for the resort itself. If that is the case (and please correct me if I am mistaken), unfortunately, I dont think you actually talked to someone at the resort, but a call center taking a call on their behalf. It kinda sounds that way from your description.

While I have never made a reservation online with Disney, there has still got to be a way to get your room request into your actual reservation's note section. I think you can still call the central reservations phone number, with your conformation number, etc, and get it in there. Or check to see if the conformation info you got has some sort of guest services number or e-mail address for changes/correspondence. I know the last think you want is another international phone call, but it may be worth a shot if the request is important.

This is off my package confirmation and I have used it to modify reservations:

Use the numbers below to modify, cancel or make a new reservation.

    Room & Vacation Package Reservations
    (407) 939-7675

The CM will ask for your confirmation number and you can add the room request to your reservation.
I have never had a problem with them listing it and almost always receive my requests!

    Beach Club room request

So I thought I'd show you our standard room view at the Beach Club. I'd you take the view that your cup is half empty, then it's this.

But. If you take the view your cup is half full, it's this

Did you see the ball? Really I'm happy to have a full balcony with this view than have paid a lot more money for a water view.

We are loving the Beach Club room. Plenty of room for all four of us. It's heaven really

Glad you're liking your room. I agree about the views - I only 'pay' for views if it's cheaper than the standard view (if I can get a discount on a water view that makes it cheaper than the standard view because the standard view doesn't have any discounts)

I have to agree that some standard views have their good and bad points. Some are really not bad. At least you have some view. In many cases, the main part is the room itself. If its clean and comfy, that is 90% of it.

Hope you are having a great time!

(Some might just consider the roof an extension of the balcony! ROOF PARTY! (Just kidding!))

Oh yes! And my daughter. Today is day three not counting arrival day so it's a 'rest' day and they're all still asleep, but it's likely to be the pool all day then I think. It's quite an 'odd' pool really and it took me a while to get used to getting around it but I think we've oriented ourselves now. The slide is fast and rough on the back for a middle aged mum it is strictly guarded at all entry points and we have been given wrist bands on entry and really it hasn't been too busy at all yet. As anticipated DS has travelled the lazy river under water many times, popping up intermittently and scaring people bobbing about in rubber rings!
