Secrets at Disney World?
I am going to WDW in November for the 4th time in 5 years. In my group will be a 9 year old boy who has been to Disney probably every year since he was born. I'm making up a scavenger hunt of the little extras Imagineers have put in (paw prints in front of Tony's in MK, key under mat at Muppet show, etc.) and I'm wondering what anyone else has noticed. Your answers would help because I'm trying to get him to notice these things now that he's older. Thank you.

Obsessed Disney Mama
Such a cute idea. I don't have any for you for WDW, but would have a ton for Disneyland. My kids got a book a few years back with this kind of stuff. I bet if you googled "Disney world scavenger hunt" you'd find some fun things to add.
Hopefully some Padders can give you some more ideas!

Well, there is the new interactive scavenger hunt in Epcot to try based on Phineas & Ferb, but the most important thing is HIDDEN MICKEYS! These are shapes made all over WDW of the three Mickey circles (mostly - there are others, such as the hidden Tinker Bell outline in the rocks as you exit Big Thunder Mountain) and are really exciting to find! There is a book written about these (see Amazon) to help you to find them too.

One book which you may find very useful - and that is relatively recent - is The Hidden Magic Of Walt Disney World. Your library may have a copy or Amazon may have a small preview of it.

I was going to use hidden mickeys as extra points! I'll check out the book too!

Zzzzzzz...
My favorite visual gag is located inside the Muppetvision 3D waiting area. Suspended from the ceiling is a net full o' jello.

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm currently reading the book and has a lot that is very interesting facts as well as a timeline of each park.

Here's a few:
The old telephone in The Chapeau shop at the foot of Main St- pick it up - and you can listen in on a party line conversation.
On a side street on the right when walking up Main St - listen for the music lessons.
Look for the statue/fountain near the castle where if you position yourself just right - the crown on the painting behind her is around the princess's head.

In Hollywood Studios in the Honey, I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set area - you can walk up these steps to a big dog nose, if you stick your hand up his nose, he'll sniff you.
Sunset Boulevard - look for the luggage next to the Route 66 sign.
And my favorite - In the entrance to the Muppets, where the turnstiles are - look up on the archway, there is a broken piece of the archway and it reads - You must be shorter than this to enter.

In DHS next to Indiana Jones....Find the rope! And remember it's okay to break the rules once in awhile!
In DHS on the Streets of America re-enact one of Gene Kelly's most iconic scenes!

You could spend hours trying to find all the animals carved into the Tree of Life in AK. Jack Spence on allears.net has some great articles on the type of little things you're looking for. Will you be staying on WDW property? You can find many things at the resorts for your game (goat with 5 legs, carroussel made of gingerbread, Walt's box car from his backyard train set). Happy researching!

What I think is totally cool about this one is that if you're an adult standing there in front of the statue, you can't see the effect. It's only when you get down low, at child's height, that you see it. Of course it was designed that way, so that a child would get a thrill by looking at it just right. Very cool!

One time I bent down to see it and I was showing my mother. I was pointing and pulling her down with me and we were talking about how cute it was. After about 2 minutes we walked away and sat on a bench and I saw a guy go over and bend down. He was trying to figure out what we were looking at but trying to be so discreet about it. After about a minute of him looking so confused my mother went over and told him. It's funny that he was trying so hard to see what we were seeing, but couldn't.

When riding Winnie the Pooh, I always look back over my left shoulder to catch a glimpse of Mr. Toad handing the deed to Toad Hall over to Owl. I miss WDW's Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.

The past three or four times we were in MK, we ran into "Push" in Tomorrowland, which is always a real treat! Push is a trashcan (just like the ones you see all around the parks) that interacts with guests by talking, moving, spinning, etc... I don't believe there is a set schedule, but it's always a great treat to see, if he's out!
At the Main Street Lost & Found in MK, you can see things like Aladdin's lamp, Pluto's bone, and Captain Hook's hook waiting to be picked up. At one point, there was an artificial leg with the name "Smith" on it (Mary Poppins' joke).
